Job description

Sales Intern-9

As a Crop Science Sales Intern, you will participate in a 12‑week internship experience where you contribute to the success of a sales team, complete business‑critical projects, and grow your knowledge of the agricultural industry; In this role, you develop skills and knowledge in sales, agronomy, business, digital acumen, networking, and more while representing one of agriculture’s leading companies; You are placed on a sales team comprised of representatives in Seeds & Traits, Crop Protection, Agronomy, and Digital Farming Solutions and are paired with a primary mentor who provides day‑to‑day learning, feedback, and coaching; You are based in a sales territory in the United States, reporting to our Emerging Talent Lead, and you belong to a cohort of other interns with the same start date and role responsibilities, with in‑person and virtual networking opportunities throughout the summer.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Crop Science Sales Intern, are to;

  • Work alongside a mentor within a sales team to learn about and support the sales of Bayer’s portfolio;

  • Complete projects to deepen your knowledge of Bayer’s products, bring a fresh perspective to key business imperatives, and present your findings at the end of the internship;

  • Develop relationships with farmer customers and partners and learn how to effectively identify and meet their needs;

  • Gain a well‑rounded understanding of the agricultural industry, including market dynamics, customer needs, and Bayer’s role in shaping sustainable agriculture;

  • Develop skills and knowledge in sales, agronomy, business, digital acumen, networking, and related areas that support your long‑term growth;

  • Learn and build confidence in the sales process, including prospecting and cold calling, to help drive adoption of Bayer solutions;

  • Focus on and develop in the following core competency areas; Customer Centricity, Product Portfolio and Agronomic Knowledge, and Data Analytics and Digital Tools.

WHO YOU ARE

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following;

  • Pursuing at minimum a bachelor’s degree;

  • Passionate about the agricultural industry and passionate or curious about a career in sales;

  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders;

  • Self‑motivated and proactive, taking initiative to meet goals with minimal supervision;

  • Driven to meet the needs of farmer customers and committed to delivering solutions that create value;

  • Proven leader and problem‑solver, with a track record of taking ownership and driving results;

  • Demonstrates the ability to prioritize and manage time effectively in a fast‑paced environment;

  • Willingness and ability to relocate for the 12‑week internship, typically to a rural area;

  • Ability to travel and drive throughout the sales territory on a daily basis, with a company vehicle provided;

  • Valid driver’s license, with a driving record that meets company risk‑screening guidelines for hiring drivers;

  • Ability to safely lift a 60‑pound bag of seed.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary of approximately between $22.75 to $47.75. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits may include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc (if relevant). This salary (or salary range) is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
