Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. The ideal candidate will have over four years of experience in mechanical design, with a strong focus on sheet metal, and a solid background in the automotive and truck industries. Proficiency in SolidWorks is essential for this role. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimising mechanical components and systems, ensuring they meet industry standards and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Mechanical Design:
    • Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings of mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks.
    • Develop innovative design solutions that meet functional, cost, and manufacturability requirements, with a strong focus on sheet metal components.
    • Perform tolerance analysis and ensure designs meet industry standards and regulations.
  • Sheet Metal Design:
    • Design and develop sheet metal components for automotive and truck applications.
    • Optimize sheet metal designs for manufacturability, cost efficiency, and structural integrity.
    • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure the feasibility of sheet metal designs.
  • Automotive and Truck Industry Focus:
    • Apply industry-specific knowledge to the design and development of automotive and truck components.
    • Ensure all designs comply with automotive and truck industry standards and regulations.
    • Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in the automotive and truck sectors.
  • Product Development:

  • Project Management:
    • Manage design projects from concept through production, ensuring timelines and milestones are met.
    • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors for component sourcing and manufacturing.
    • Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and other team members.

Requirements
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in mechanical design engineering.
  • Proven experience in using SolidWorks for mechanical design and modelling.
  • Strong background in sheet metal design.
  • Experience in the automotive and truck industries is essential.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, including advanced modeling, simulation, and drafting capabilities.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with automotive and truck industry standards and regulations.
  • Experience with other CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, CATIA) is a plus.
