Battery Materials Research Engineer

Job Description:

Support battery research projects through next-generation battery material development with emphasis on the hands-on operation of material synthesis and evaluation. This work includes synthesis battery cathode materials, perform material level characterization and analysis, battery cell fabrication and testing, data processing and complete summary reports.

  • Follow all corporate safety standards and site safety policies
  • Work closely with multi-disciplined teams to understand functional requirements and implement appropriate technical solutions
  • Advanced battery cathode material synthesis
  • Cathode material morphology control and formulation modification
  • Battery material characterization and evaluation
  • Slurry mixing, electrode coating and cell assembly
  • Battery cell testing and data processing
  • Battery cell teardown and post-mortem analysis
  • Work effectively both independently and close with peers, management, operations groups, and external partners.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Skills Required

  • B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science/Engineering, or related filed.
  • Hand-on experience with chemical or material characterization.
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience on battery material synthesis, analysis, cell fabrication and electrochemical characterization techniques.
  • Ability to proceed the experiment for material development.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret experimental data.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Experience Required

  • 1-3 years of experience in battery cathode material synthesis and development area
  • 1-3 year of hands-on experience with larger battery cell format (pouch, cylindrical), coin cells and pouch cells.
  • Hands-on experience on battery material synthesis, or/and surface coating techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with cell fabrication and battery cell testing equipment.
