Job Title: Senior Manufacturing Engineer - Battery Manufacturing
Job Location: De Soto, KS
Job Duration: 3 months, Contract to Hire
Position Overview:
  • A Senior Battery Manufacturing engineer with expertise in battery cell production and pack assembly operations. He/she is well versed in key digital technologies (such as MES & shop floor automation) to drive manufacturing excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead manufacturing process optimization efforts
  • Develop lean transformation programs for cost reduction and scalability.
  • Manage end-to-end product launches and industrialization including offshoring projects.
  • Support plant commissioning efforts as a core member of transformation/project management office
  • Lead MES design and shopfloor digitalization for battery cell and/or pack assembly OEMs.
  • Strategize MES deployment and operations worldwide.
  • Oversee global IT transformation across multiple plants.
  • Coordinate commissioning activities, including Factory Acceptance Testing and Site Acceptance Testing
  • Manage cross-functional teams for ramp-up and process validation.
Technical Skills:
  • 5+ years of specialized experience in battery cell manufacturing processes,
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in industrial automation tools including PLC programming, SCADA systems for real-time process monitoring and MES software.
  • Strong foundation in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma methodologies, and knowledge of simulation tools like MATLAB and ANSYS to drive process innovation and efficiency.
  • Thorough understanding of High Voltage Safety systems, covering risk assessment, hazard categorization, and operator safety protocols.
  • Proven ability to coordinate commissioning tasks, including process ramp-up, validation, and stabilization for battery assembly lines.
  • Development of production readiness metrics addressing organizational structure, equipment standardization, and operational workflows.
  • Extensive exposure to high-volume production optimization, including identifying constraints and resolving systemic bottlenecks.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or master's in engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing IT or engineering, with a background in manufacturing, commissioning, or production management, ideally within the automotive or EV sectors.
  • Proficient in Design for Manufacturing principles and compliance regulations.
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
