Job Title: Ink Operator / Batching Technician
Location: Springfield, VA

Employment Type: 3 Month Contract
Shifts:

  • First: Monday-Thursday, 5:00 AM - 3:30 PM (Friday OT as needed)
  • Second: Monday - Thursday 2:00 PM - 12:30 AM (Friday OT as needed)

Position Summary

The Ink Operator / Batching Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient production of security inks used in highly regulated applications such as currency, passports, government IDs, and tax stamps. This is a hands-on manufacturing position in a high-security, ISO 14298-regulated environment where quality, safety, and precision are critical.


Key Responsibilities
  • Manufacture ink according to established procedures and production specifications
  • Produce batches in alignment with daily production goals and schedules
  • Weigh and measure wet and dry chemical ingredients, including work under vacuum systems
  • Mix, blend, and prepare chemical batches for ink production
  • Load, operate, and monitor industrial mixing and processing equipment
  • Operate roller mill machinery to grind pigment particles for proper consistency, smoothness, and color accuracy
  • Fill, handle, and transport 5-55 gallon containers throughout the production area
  • Clean and sanitize bulk containers, equipment, and workstations after production runs
  • Perform tub room duties and general production support tasks as needed
  • Deliver ink samples to the quality lab and coordinate with QC personnel
  • Support quality testing related to viscosity, tack, and color consistency
  • Assist with troubleshooting equipment and minor mechanical issues
  • Use pallet jacks, hand tools, and power tools safely and effectively
  • Support shipping preparation, material handling, and logistics tasks
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times
  • Follow all SOPs, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • High School Diploma or GED (verified)
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Ability to pass 5-panel drug screen and federal/state background check
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting ability
  • Comfortable operating industrial machinery in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to follow written procedures and SOPs accurately
  • Basic math skills (high school level)
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
  • Ability to maneuver and roll heavy containers (up to 2,000 lbs on wheels)
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks
  • Willingness to work in a general labor and team-based production environment
  • Strong team player mentality and willingness to support multiple areas of the plant
