Dal-Tile is currently seeking a Glaze Prep Technician to join our TEAM! As the Glaze Prep Technician, we need someone who is ready to provide a variety of support such as following quality management system, scheduling batching and raw material inventory.
Primary Objective
Responsible for team member and machine safety, and efficient operational and maintenance related items focused around digital inkjet printing machines.
Major Function and Scope
Ensures all safety protocols throughout the plant and department are adhered to.
Drives world class housekeeping in glaze prep and the batching plant.
Follows the Quality Management System for all operating procedures and practice instructions, as well as working with the Quality Department to create needed procedures.
Responsible for daily/weekly/monthly glaze prep needs from the batching plant as well as raw materials needed.
Planning and scheduling the batching plant orders from our sister plants.
Responsible for month end raw material inventory count, for all glaze line, glaze prep and batching plant materials.
Working with purchasing and vendors for glaze prep raw material orders.
Training of all new hires and existing team members on the safe and efficient operation of the machines in glaze prep and batching.
Working with operational and maintenance teams to develop and sustain operator basic care programs.
Fill-in and relief responsibility for all glazing prep and batching functions, as well as assisting the glaze lines for glaze needs.
Will perform daily and weekly review of mills and mill times, to ensure efficiencies remain at a high level.
Potential for call-in support may be required if in-house team is unable to meet the needs of the process.
All other duties as requested.
Experience and Knowledge Required
2 or more years manufacturing experience.
Requires Dal-Tile level II or level III glazing certification or 18 months+ experience in the ceramic tile industry with a strong background in machine effectiveness.
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires knowledge of safety policy and procedures. Ability to read/write English. Basic computer literacy. Strong knowledge of glaze line and quality standards, and overall ceramic manufacturing.
Competencies
Core competencies include strong communication and listening skills, leadership skills, organizational skills, conflict resolution skills, and ability to analyze, plan and schedule.
