Job Description
Design, provision, and govern complex cloud infrastructure in AWS and Azure using infrastructure as code technologies (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, and Azure Resource Manager), DevOps tools, and GitOps techniques. Lead design and development of cloud services and provisioning processes to support consistent, standardized, secure, scalable, and fully automated deployment. Provide technical and thought leadership to team/vendor/contractor resources, consulting on cloud native application design, validation of designs, and planning and execution of complex application migrations to the cloud environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead design and implementation of cloud services that comply with the organization's security and technology standards. Act as product owner for cloud services owned by the Cloud Engineering team. Automate provisioning of cloud services using infrastructure as code (e.g. Terraform, CloudFormation Templates, Azure Resource Manager Templates) and GitOps techniques. Document detailed service designs, usage, and troubleshooting processes for peers and consumers.
  • Independently perform, or lead teams in, the design, configuration, integration, and upgrade of existing and future technologies in cloud computing and colo environments. Design, provision, and manage the cloud environment's structure, landing zone, governance capabilities and core services such as network, logging and monitoring, security and access management.
  • Support application migration to, and development in, the cloud by consulting with application architects and software engineers to ensure viability of designs. Plan and executing complex cloud migrations that may include application refactoring to cloud-native design. Leverage knowledge of cloud services, telemetry, and log data to analyze and resolve complex technical issues in the cloud environment.
  • Develop and maintain current knowledge of cloud providers' service offerings in several of the following domains: network, IAM, compute, storage and backup, big data and analytics, machine learning, batch processing, configuration management, and cloud governance. Effectively share this knowledge through mentoring, coaching, and contributing to the development of peers and junior team members.
  • Review and analyze cloud marketplace, cloud providers' roadmaps, industry trends, and emerging technologies. Assess potential value to the business and recommend appropriate emerging technologies to leadership. Identify cost and performance optimization opportunities and partner with stakeholders to plan and execute configuration changes to capture savings and benefits.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent (4-years).
  • 5-7+ years of relevant work experience required.
  • 5+ years engineering and integration experience in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, and/or GCP).
  • Deep understanding of foundational technologies such as IAM, core IaaS services (compute, storage, networking).
  • 2+ years' experience with infrastructure as code technologies such as CloudFormation, Terraform, ARM templates
  • Strong analytical and customer service abilities.
  • High reasoning aptitude and ability to quickly understand complex operating environments.
  • Ability to coach and mentor experienced engineering staff.
  • Ability to communicate and articulate technical information across various organizational levels.
  • Strong thought leadership abilities and a highly innovative problem solver.

Preferred Qualifications
  • AWS Professional (Solutions Architect or DevOps) or Azure Solutions Architect Expert
  • 2+ years' experience with scripting and automation technologies and demonstrated ability to automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration tasks.
  • Experience using source code management systems and automation tools such as Jenkins or Ansible.
  • Experience configuring and deploying serverless applications.
  • Experience with containerized applications and container orchestration solutions such as EKS or AKS.
  • Implementation/architectural experience in Red Hat Linux, Windows Server, Networking (LAN/WAN), Storage Area Network (SAN/NAS), Disaster Recovery, Application Recovery, and Web/Database Farm concepts.
  • Programming Language: Python, PowerShell, Groovy.

Base Pay Salary
The estimated base salary for this role is $114,500 - $157,000 a year. We have a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy. Your initial total compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographical work location. In addition, most of our roles are eligible for variable pay in the form of bonus, commissions, and/or long-term incentives depending on the role. We also have a competitive and comprehensive benefits program that supports all aspects of your health and well-being, including but not limited to vacation time, sick time, 401(k), and health, dental and life insurances.
