Job description

The Treasure Valley Family YMCA is seeking Part-Time Youth Sports Referees for the Fall 2026 season.This role is responsible for ensuring the rules of the game they are officiating are followed by all players, following Y Character Values. We hire Referees for short or long term for the following team sports -Soccer, Volleyball, and Basketball. see below for seasonal needs by sport and month:

  • Volleyball Referees September and October
  • Basketball Referees Needed for October and December. We transition to Girls Basketball in January through March

As a Youth Sports Referee, you're more than the person with the whistle. You're helping kids learn teamwork, sportsmanship, confidence, and what it means to play fair.

  • Officiate youth sports games while keeping things safe, fair, and fun
  • Know and enforce the rules while using good judgment
  • Encourage positive sportsmanship and respectful behavior
  • Help young athletes learn from both wins and losses
  • Communicate confidently with players, coaches, and families
  • Create an environment where every child feels welcome and included

Schedule:

This is a part-time position averaging 10-20 hours weekly. Work locations will vary based on sports season and needs. Schedule requirements are Thursday Evenings and Saturdays, 8:00am-4:00pm. Pay is $13.45/hour.
