Entrepreneur High School San Bernardino is seeking a dedicated and experienced Girls High School Varsity Assistant Basketball Coach to support the head varsity coach in leading our varsity basketball team for the upcoming season. The successful candidate will assist with coaching, mentoring, and developing student-athletes to achieve their highest potential both on and off the court. The Assistant Coach will work closely with the Head Coach to create a positive and inclusive team environment that emphasizes sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, and personal growth while focusing on basketball-specific skills, game strategy, and injury prevention.

  • Support the Head Coach in planning, organizing, and conducting regular team practices, conditioning sessions, and games.
  • Assist in developing and implementing effective basketball strategies, including offensive and defensive game plans, to enhance team performance.
  • Help teach and reinforce basketball-specific skills such as shooting, dribbling, passing, rebounding, and defensive techniques.
  • Contribute to player development by assessing skills, providing constructive feedback, and assisting with individual improvement plans.
  • Monitor and maintain players' physical fitness levels, including strength and conditioning programs tailored to basketball.
  • Emphasize player safety and injury prevention, particularly with regard to preventing common basketball injuries such as ankle sprains, knee injuries, and muscle strains.
  • Work with the Head Coach to foster a positive team culture that promotes mutual respect, discipline, and sportsmanship.
  • Mentor and guide student-athletes, focusing on their academic, athletic, and personal development.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as organizing team logistics (travel arrangements, equipment management, etc.), tracking team statistics, and managing game-day preparations.
  • Serve as a point of contact for parents and school staff, providing timely updates on team activities, schedules, and achievements.
  • Collaborate with the Head Coach, athletic trainers, and school administration to ensure smooth team operations.
  • Help organize and oversee team fundraising efforts.
  • Adhere to all school district policies and procedures as well as state athletic regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with all CIF Southern Section (CIF SS) rules and policies.

  • Previous coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level, preferably as a head or assistant basketball coach.
  • Strong knowledge of basketball, including rules, strategies, techniques, and conditioning.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with student-athletes, parents, and school staff.
  • Commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive team environment.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (preferred).
  • Valid coaching certification or willingness to obtain one prior to the start of the season (as required by the state or school district).
