Season Start Date: October 19, 2026
Practices and games: Monday-Friday and occasional Saturdays; times may vary
Description:
The primary responsibility of the 7th & 8th grade Basketball Coach is supervising the participants enrolled in the program during practices and games.
Responsibilities:
  • Attend all practices, matches, and tournaments during the season, including both home and away competitions.
  • Provide supervision on buses to all away events.
  • Assist students in developing and improving various basketball skills.
  • Assess students' basketball skills to identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop innovative ways to assist beginner and younger students in learning and remembering the rules of the game.
  • Identify the best learning styles for each student and adapt coaching methods accordingly.
  • Provide a secure and productive learning environment for students.
  • Communicate, manage, and work with 7th and 8th grade basketball players and their families.
  • Develop a daily practice plan for each practice session.
  • Come prepared to each competition with a game plan for the match.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • Any combination of experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge and skills. Coaching certification preferred.
  • Candidates should:
    • Have proven experience working as a basketball coach.
    • Have previous basketball playing experience.
    • Understand the rules of basketball.
    • Collaborate with the varsity basketball coach to meet the long-term needs of the basketball program.
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Sound knowledge of various coaching techniques
    • The ability to motivate students
    • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
    • Exceptional communication and customer service skills
    • First Aid and CPR certification preferred
  • Physical Demands:
    • Must have a valid driver's license and the ability to provide own transportation to all practices and competitions.
