JOB TITLE: Baseball/Softball Umpire
DEPARTMENT: Parks and Recreation
FLSA STATUS: Hourly, Non-Exempt

HOURLY RATE: $15.00-$17.00
POSITION SUMMARY
Umpires officiate baseball and softball for 1st grade through 6th grade games. Umpires maintain standards of play as well as sports policies and to ensure that game rules are observed by participants and spectators. Works directly with the public and is responsible for contributing to a fun and safe environment for friendly competition.
ESSENTIAL POSITION DUTIES amp; RESPONSIBILITES
๏ƒ˜ Enforces the rules of the games.
๏ƒ˜ Inspect sporting equipment and/or examine participants to ensure compliance with event and safety regulations.
๏ƒ˜ Signal participants or other officials to make them aware of infractions or to otherwise regulate play or competition.โ€ฏ
๏ƒ˜ Communicate clearly and effectively with coaches, participants and spectators.
๏ƒ˜ Regular, reliable attendance.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILTIES
๏ƒ˜ Ability to work weekday evenings and Saturday mornings/afternoons.
๏ƒ˜ Must be able to prove reliable transportation.
๏ƒ˜ Must be able to pass a background check if not a minor.
๏ƒ˜ Excellent communication skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
๏ƒ˜ Must be able to work long hours in outdoor temperatures
๏ƒ˜ Some work is accomplished in an outdoor environment, subject to weather fluctuations (wide range of temperatures and inclement conditions)
๏ƒ˜ Must be able to stand, or squat for long periods of time.
๏ƒ˜ Running related to the job duties will be occasionally necessary
๏ƒ˜ Must be at least 14 years old. (Work permits are required for 14 amp; 15 y/o).
PREFERRED QUALFICATIONS
