We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in commercial HVAC system design to join our growing engineering team in Denver. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys designing innovative mechanical systems for commercial, healthcare, education, industrial, and mission-critical facilities.

A current Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred, but we also welcome highly qualified Mechanical Engineers who are actively pursuing licensure.

Our team values collaboration and flexibility, offering a hybrid work schedule that balances in-office teamwork with remote work after onboarding and based on project needs.

If you're passionate about designing efficient, sustainable HVAC systems and collaborating on complex projects from concept through construction, we'd love to hear from you.

Responsibilities

  • Design HVAC systems for commercial, institutional, healthcare, industrial, and mixed-use buildings.
  • Perform heating and cooling load calculations using industry-standard software.
  • Select and specify HVAC equipment including rooftop units, air handlers, chillers, boilers, VRF systems, pumps, cooling towers, and energy recovery systems.
  • Design ductwork, hydronic piping, ventilation, and temperature control systems.
  • Prepare mechanical plans, specifications, schedules, and engineering calculations.
  • Coordinate designs with architects, electrical engineers, plumbing engineers, and contractors.
  • Review shop drawings, equipment submittals, RFIs, and construction documents.
  • Conduct field investigations, site visits, and construction observations.
  • Ensure compliance with ASHRAE standards, IMC, IECC, local building codes, and client requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of commercial HVAC design experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • EIT certification with plans to obtain a PE will also be considered.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, equipment selection, and mechanical design principles.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Revit MEP.
  • Familiarity with Trane TRACE, Carrier HAP, or similar HVAC load calculation software.
  • Working knowledge of ASHRAE standards, energy codes, and mechanical codes.
  • Excellent communication and project coordination skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Consulting engineering or MEP design firm experience.
  • Central plant design including chillers, boilers, and hydronic systems.
  • Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) system design.
  • Building Automation Systems (BAS) integration.
  • Energy-efficient and sustainable HVAC design.
  • LEED accreditation is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $120,000–$150,000 annual salary, based on experience
  • Hybrid work schedule
  • Relocation assistance available
  • Annual performance bonus opportunities
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid vacation and company holidays
  • Flexible work environment
  • Continuing education and professional development
  • PE licensing reimbursement and renewal support
  • Professional association memberships
  • Opportunities for career advancement and technical leadership
