Our Commercial Space team is positioned to contribute to the future of space exploration as we build partnerships with established leaders in Commercial Space. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to play in a role in various commercial space endeavors with our partners that include Intuitive Machines, Axiom Space, Lockheed Martin, and others.

Responsibilities

The Network Operations Engineer will:

  • Perform realtime network configuration updates to support mission timelines, customer objectives, and spacecraft positioning.
  • Monitor live network performance and rapidly address anomalies to reduce operational impacts.
  • Develop advanced proficiency in Delay Tolerant Networking (DTN) for communications across lunar and cislunar environments.
  • Handle urgent customerdriven requests during critical mission windows.
  • Track network trends, recurring issues, and system behavior to recommend reliability improvements.
  • Deliver clear status updates and operational assessments to internal teams and customers.
  • Participate in simulations, training runs, and mission rehearsals to maintain operational readiness.
  • Support development projects that enhance automation, tools, and operational workflows.
Qualifications

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent from an accredited engineering school and three (3) years of related network design or operations experience

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent from an accredited engineering school and five (5) years of related network design or operations experience
  • Strong grounding in IP networking concepts, including routing, switching, and network analysis/modeling tools.
  • Ability to work shifts and provide afterhours operational coverage when needed.
  • High degree of operational discipline, precision, and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Experience supporting missioncritical, customerfacing, or highavailability network systems.
  • Background in satellite communications, space relay networks, or ground station operations.
  • Experience operating within realtime command centers or consolebased environments.
  • Familiarity with scripting, automation tooling, or configuration management systems.

Essential Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.

  • Work may involve sitting for extended periods.
  • May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lb.

  • Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical.
  • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.
  • Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
  • This position may require some commuting and traveling to other installations as needed.
