The Space System Engineer will lead complex spacecraft development projects within a large, multidisciplinary engineering team. This role demands deep expertise in system design, integration, and risk management, supporting cutting-edge space systems from concept through validation. The engineer will collaborate across departments in a matrix structure to ensure mission success, reporting to multiple stakeholders while working full-time onsite in a secure facility in El Segundo, California. U.S. citizenship and an active or recently held TS/SCI clearance are required.
Responsibilities
- Design and analyze complex space systems and subsystems
- Develop and validate system requirements to meet mission objectives
- Plan and conduct testing and performance validation activities
- Assess risks and implement mitigation strategies throughout the project lifecycle
- Document engineering processes, test results, and compliance information
- Integrate hardware and software components for full system operation
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues during development
- Collaborate cross-functionally within a large engineering team and matrix reporting environment
Required Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience in spacecraft development, integration, testing, or space systems engineering
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or related field
- Expertise in systems engineering and requirements analysis
- Proven skills in risk management and mitigation
- Proficiency with simulation tools and project management methodologies
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
- U.S. citizenship with active TS/SCI clearance or TS/SCI clearance held within the last six months and eligibility for reissuance
- Willingness to work full-time onsite in a SCIF facility
