We are seeking a hands-on expert to perform repair, maintenance and service on critical marine equipment. This includes MacGregor's and third-party equipment as shipboard cranes, winches, hatch covers, steering gears and RoRo equipment.
This is a position that requires that you travel to client sites, vessels or at shipyards worldwide. Our clients are primarily domestic but also spread across the globe, i.e. Europe, Brazil, Australia, Singapore, and beyond. Therefore, flexibility and a willingness to travel are essential.
More tasks and responsibilities
  • Perform hydraulic maintenance and repairs on shipboard cranes, winches, hatch covers, steering gears and RoRo equipment
  • Handle advanced equipment repairs and conduct breakdown analysis
  • Document work schedules and completed work tasks accurately
  • Manage the relevant documentation (ex. service reports, time sheets, travel expenses etc.)
  • Ensure that all activities comply with the general job safety and other rules and requirements according to MacGregor standards

Reporting directly to Gary Joseph Barrett the Workshop Foreman. The position will be based in MacGregor's office in Seattle, Washington.
What you'll need to succeed
You have a background with a primary focus on hydraulic equipment. Knowledge and experience with shipboard cranes, winches, hatch covers, steering gears and/or RoRo equipment is a plus.
On a personal level, we are looking for an independent professional who has the confidence to make decisions under pressure. Effective communication, flexibility and openness to new information are the key to success in this role. The ideal candidate will enjoy hands-on work and thrive in a collaborative, multicultural environment.
Ideally you have
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in hydraulic troubleshooting, maintainance and equipment repairs
  • Willingness to travel up to 80% of the time
  • Previous experience from merchant, offshore, naval or maritime industry is a plus
  • Previous experience with shipboard cranes, winches, hatch covers, steering gears and/or RoRo is a bonus
  • Basic computer literary will be considered an advantage
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English
