Job description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Dental Hygienist to join our team. In this vital role, you will deliver exceptional dental care, educate patients on oral health, and support the overall efficiency of our practice. Your expertise will help ensure our patients receive the best possible care while maintaining a safe and hygienic environment.


This position is a long-term temporary opportunity. Our current Dental Hygienist is taking a medical leave for up to 6 months beginning in October. We are looking for someone to cover her position for Mondays and Tuesdays.


We are, however looking to expand our hygiene team and if it is a good fit there may be an opportunity to remain on staff after our Hygienist returns.


Duties

  • Perform dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, to promote optimal oral health.
  • Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories and vital signs to inform treatment plans.
  • Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental imaging equipment while adhering to infection prevention protocols.
  • Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions.
  • Assist the dentist during procedures with chairside assisting, ensuring smooth workflow and patient comfort.
  • Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) using Eaglesoft documenting treatment details thoroughly.
  • Follow infection control procedures, including aseptic techniques and sterilization of dental instruments, in compliance with HIPAA and healthcare regulations.

Qualifications

  • Valid Oregon state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to perform dental cleanings and radiographs.
  • Proven experience in general dentistry settings preferred.
  • Proficiency with Eaglesoft for documentation and record management.
  • Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dental care.
  • Excellent client communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively about oral health.
  • Familiarity with infection prevention management, aseptic techniques, and healthcare infection control standards.
  • Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently in a fast-paced environment with a focus on patient care and safety.
