Job description

About the Facility 

Private 70 acre dressage facility. 10-11 ponies and dressage horses plus one donkey. Beautiful, state of the art facility featuring several large pastures, individual oversized stalls with attached dry lots, smaller rehab turnouts, and a center-aisle barn designed for function AND form. This is a private facility which is home ONLY to the owner's private horses, and does not welcome boarders or clients. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys top-tier care in a peaceful, non-competition setting.

Job Description 

Looking for an experienced, mature, and knowledgeable Retirement Barn Hand! This person will be working along side the Barn Manager, a daily stall cleaning service, and additional grooms to ensure exemplary care for the owner's well-loved herd. We are looking for dependable individuals who take pride in high standards, enjoy working around horses, and thrive in a structured, respectful atmosphere.  Everyone is responsible for all aspects of equine care, and everyone will work together to tackle all aspects of daily care and operation in this position. This position offers a 5 day work week (1 weekend day required) and can be structured as either a live-in or live-out opportunity. Hours are 8am-5pm, one weekend day required

Responsibilities will include:

  • Feeding & watering horses (cleaning water buckets daily)
  • Daily Grooming & Bathing as needed
  • Braiding and clipping when needed - Running braids preferred
  • Cleaning stalls (Assisting stall cleaning team)
  • Pasture & Stable upkeep (Picking pastures, cobwebbing, sweeping, etc)
  • Assisting with facility maintenance as needed (mowing, etc)
  • Caring for horses, property, and facility to the highest standards
  • Night check 3-5 days per week between 8pm-10pm

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in a professional equestrian environment
  • Previous experience show grooming, preferably in the dressage industry or at a high end breeding facility strongly favored
  • Willing to learn and take direction on unique care for each horse from farm owner
  • Able to do a running braid in mane and dressage braids (or willing to learn)
  • Able to recognize any signs of distress
  • Positive, and self-starting attitude required
  • Able to lift 50+ lbs
  • Long-term commitment is a MUST

Live-in - $55,000 salary (Housing Included and night check responsibilities required)

 Housing Available
Private, fully furnished 1 bedroom cottage on-site with fenced in yard. Small dogs welcome, but ideally no other pets. Unfortunately, housing is not set up to accommodate children.
