Overview

The RN Clinical Nurse plays a vital role as an active participant in a multidisciplinary team of both licensed and unlicensed caregivers, ensuring that patients, families, and significant others receive personalized, high-quality, and safe care. This role operates within a clinical setting overseen by Nurse Managers and other leaders, supported by our organization’s Shared Governance Model.

The practice framework is guided by our Professional Practice Model, along with evidence-based practices and research. RN competencies are derived from these frameworks and are aligned with our core values.

All RN Clinical Nurses are expected to be licensed, knowledgeable, and to adhere to the nursing practices defined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, implementing the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards established by the American Nurses Association. As part of the patient services team, individuals are expected to advocate for the patient’s voice while adhering to system policies and procedures, all while supporting our service excellence goals.

      • Conducts the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) in clinical care, utilizing evidence-based practices and analytical thinking to ensure individualized care and effective coordination.
      • Delivers relationship-based, patient-centered care that aligns with specific population characteristics (e.g., age, gender, health conditions), adapting service delivery to reflect cultural diversity.
      • Engages with patients and significant others appropriately, utilizing methods such as bedside shift reports and interdisciplinary rounds to keep them informed and focused on their care goals.
      • Adheres to current clinical practice standards.
    • Teamwork and Collaboration:
      • Coordinates the delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care, promoting a professional care delivery model through inclusive interdisciplinary communication methods.
      • Exhibits teamwork and collaboration by practicing in a fiscally responsible manner that encourages the recruitment and retention of healthcare team members.
      • Engages in performance improvement initiatives, supporting all stakeholders and promoting safe, quality patient care through research and shared governance.
    • Professional Development and Initiative:
      • Completes all required initial and ongoing professional competency assessments and mandatory education.
      • Acts as a preceptor or mentor for other nurses and staff, ensuring a qualified workforce and fostering a healthy work environment.

Qualifications
  • Required Minimum Education:
    • Associate's Degree in Nursing or graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.
    • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is preferred.
  • Required Minimum Experience:
    • At least 2 years of direct patient care nursing experience is required.
  • Required Minimum Skills:
    • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English, with basic computer skills and the ability to utilize technology to enhance clinical care.
    • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, along with excellent customer service abilities.
    • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergencies with composure and respect.
    • Demonstrates effective time management and critical thinking skills, employing evidence-based practices in nursing.
  • Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):
    • Registered Nurse (Single State) is required.
    • RN - Multi-state Compact is required.
    • Basic Life Support certification is required.
    • BLS Instructor certification is required.
    • BLS Provisional certification is required.
