Job Description
Medical Lab Scanning Assistant

Job Summary Iron Mountain is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Medical Lab Scanning Assistant to join our Government Solutions team. In this role, you will be responsible for the high-volume preparation and data logging of glass slides into the JPIMS system, ensuring patient safety through rigorous quality control of specimen labels while maintaining an active T1 Investigation clearance.

What You'll Do In this role, you will:

  • Prepare Specimens for Digitization: Log incoming glass slides into the Digital Scanning Area, verify barcode functionality, and relabel slides with appropriate accession numbers to ensure they are ready for imaging.

  • Execute Quality Control: Conduct meticulous reviews to confirm the accuracy of patient information and barcode data within JPIMS, identifying and documenting any quality assurance (QA) deficiencies to prevent diagnostic errors.

  • Coordinate Lab Workflow: Organize and place slides in designated holding areas and transition prepared materials to Digital Imaging Technicians, Histology Technicians, or Fellows for final processing.

What You'll Bring The ideal candidate will have:

  • At least 1 year of experience in a medical, laboratory, or high-volume data entry environment.

  • Strong knowledge of quality control activities and a keen eye for detail regarding data accuracy and patient safety.

  • Proven ability to manage physical specimen organization, use barcode scanning technology, and document technical deficiencies.

  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.

  • Active T1 Investigation clearance.
