Position Summary

The Barber is responsible for providing professional grooming services to residents in a treatment setting. The Barber will focus on delivering a positive experience, ensuring clients feel confident and cared for through personalized haircuts and grooming services. This role plays a crucial part in enhancing clients' self-esteem and well-being during their recovery journey.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide haircuts, shaves, and grooming services to clients according to their preferences and styles.
  • Maintain a clean and organized barbering station and ensure all tools and equipment are sanitized.
  • Stay current with the latest grooming trends and techniques to provide clients with the best possible service.
  • Educate clients on hair care and maintenance while promoting a positive self-image and confidence.
  • Show patience and empathy in handling clients, particularly those experiencing emotional or psychological challenges.
  • Schedule appointments and manage client flow effectively to maximize service delivery.
  • Collaborate with the clinical team to understand the needs of clients and offer appropriate grooming services.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in all barbering practices.
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Participate in outreach events and engage with clients in a supportive manner.

Requirements

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of a state-approved barbering program is required.

Experience:

  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a barbering role preferred.

Licensure & Certifications:

  • Valid state barberโ€™s license is required.
  • CPR Certification preferred; required within 6 months of hire.

Other Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to connect with clients.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, responding effectively to client needs.

  • Position is primarily indoors (90%) in a grooming area with appropriate equipment.

  • Frequent use of barbering equipment, including clippers, scissors, and razors.
  • Comfort working in a therapeutic setting, engaging with clients who may have varying emotional states.
Security & Compliance Requirements
  • Criminal background check, reference check, and drug screening required.
