Position Summary
The Pool Server delivers exceptional, resort-style service in an outdoor poolside environment. This role is responsible for providing attentive and efficient food and beverage service to guests lounging at the pool, ensuring a relaxed, enjoyable, and safe experience. The Pool Server accurately takes and enters orders, delivers items promptly, maintains cleanliness of the pool area, and enhances the guest experience through friendly, proactive service and thoughtful upselling.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Guest Service & Poolside Operations
  • Provide prompt, friendly, and attentive service to guests in pool and lounge areas
  • Present menus and offer recommendations on food, cocktails, and refreshing beverages
  • Accurately take and enter orders, including special requests and dietary needs
  • Deliver food and beverages safely and efficiently throughout the pool area
  • Monitor guest needs proactively, checking in regularly while respecting guest privacy
  • Clear, clean, and reset lounge areas, tables, and cabanas as needed

Sales & Revenue Generation
  • Promote and upsell food, cocktails, and specialty beverages to enhance the poolside experience and maximize revenue

Cash Handling & POS
  • Process payments accurately using POS systems, including cashless and room charge transactions
  • Close out guest checks and ensure accuracy of all transactions

Pool Area Setup & Maintenance
  • Set up pool service stations with linens, glassware, utensils, condiments, and supplies
  • Maintain cleanliness of service areas, including removing trash and used items promptly
  • Ensure all stations are stocked with necessary items throughout the shift

Compliance & Safety
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations
  • Adhere to responsible alcohol service standards; do not serve minors or intoxicated guests
  • Follow all safety policies, including wearing slip-resistant footwear and using proper PPE
  • Maintain awareness of pool safety and report any unsafe conditions or incidents immediately
  • Exercise caution when navigating wet surfaces and crowded pool areas

Attendance
  • Maintain reliable and punctual attendance, including availability for weekends, holidays, and peak pool season

Additional Responsibilities
  • Complete assigned side work before, during, and after shifts
  • Maintain a professional and upbeat demeanor in a high-energy, outdoor setting
  • Respond to guest concerns promptly; escalate issues when necessary
  • Report safety concerns, maintenance needs, or unusual incidents to management
  • Support team members and assist with additional duties as needed

Qualifications
  • Minimum 1 year of food service experience; resort or outdoor dining experience preferred
  • Basic knowledge of food, beverages, and service standards
  • General knowledge of cocktails, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a guest-focused mindset
  • Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced, outdoor environment
  • Professional appearance and positive attitude

Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • TIPS® certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
  • Valid Food Handler's Card (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions

Physical & Work Environment Requirements
  • Prolonged standing and walking across pool decks and outdoor areas
  • Frequent lifting and carrying (up to 50 lbs occasionally)
  • Exposure to sun, heat, and varying weather conditions
  • Walking on wet and potentially slippery surfaces
  • Reaching, bending, and balancing while carrying trays and beverages
  • Exposure to noise, crowds, and a fast-paced environment
