What is a Banner?

Banner jobs typically refer to positions related to the management, design, or implementation of banner advertisements or to roles working with Banner, the administrative software system used by many colleges and universities. In the context of advertising, Banner jobs may involve creating, managing, or analyzing online banner ads for marketing purposes. In the context of higher education technology, Banner jobs often involve working with Ellucian Banner, which is an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system used for managing student information, finances, and human resources. The specific duties will depend on which context the job is in.

What are the typical responsibilities of a Banner system administrator in a higher education setting?

A Banner system administrator in higher education is responsible for maintaining and supporting the Ellucian Banner ERP system, which manages student information, finance, human resources, and more. Daily tasks often include monitoring system performance, applying software patches, troubleshooting user issues, and ensuring data integrity. The role involves close collaboration with IT staff, academic departments, and administrative offices to implement updates, integrate third-party applications, and facilitate training. Administrators also play a key part in planning system upgrades and supporting institutional reporting needs.

About Us

Higher Digital is built for people who want to do meaningful work in an environment free from corporate bureaucracy.

We're a small, experienced, global team helping higher education institutions solve hard problems and turn strategy into action. That means our people get real responsibility, real visibility, and a real voice in what we do.

We trust people to use good judgment and get things done. We share how the company is performing. We talk openly about what's working, what isn't, and what needs to change. Good ideas matter more than titles, and we expect people to challenge us when they see a better way.

We're remote-first and work across the US, UK, Europe, Canada, and beyond. We value flexibility, but flexibility comes with accountability. Clients and teammates need to be able to count on you.

We also genuinely like working together. Cameras are usually on. Conversations wander into football, soccer, baseball, travel, and whatever international rivalry is happening that week. We take the work seriously without taking ourselves too seriously.

Higher Digital moves quickly. Priorities change. People wear more than one hat. There isn't a giant organization waiting to solve every problem for you. If you need layers of process, narrowly defined responsibilities, and lots of permission, this probably isn't your place. If you like autonomy, smart colleagues, transparency, variety, and the opportunity to make a visible difference (for our clients and for the company) you'll probably feel at home here.

We're building Higher Digital together.
