The Market President is responsible for managing and directing broad-based banking activities within a specific geographic region. This includes commercial, agricultural, and consumer banking with focus on lending, retail deposit growth, and marketing. The Market President provides leadership and coaching to the market employees that my include both bankers and retail associates, with a strong emphasis on being sales focused and providing a high level of customer service. Finally, while this position is fully accountable to the performance of their market, they will also work closely with the Bank’s headquarters location, and specifically with functional and cross functional team members including the Regional President, the broader lending team, the Regional Retail Manager, the credit and operations teams, and other cross-functional teams based outside of the market.

  • Provides leadership and direction for the market’s banking activities and employees, with overall responsibility for financial, loan, and deposit performance, as well as growth, risk control, and profit performance.
  • Develops and implements comprehensive business plans, initiatives, and budgets for the assigned market.
  • Executes new business development and retention tactics to bring new corporate business and personal deposit and loan accounts into the market and develop long term relationships with the clients.
  • Reviews and recommends objectives and procedures to ensure compliance with company policies as they relate to all activities within the specified market.
  • Monitors and responds to problem loans, watch loans, and delinquencies.
  • Manages, coaches, develops, and motivates staff through performance management and employee development efforts to ensure high performance and achieve expected results.
  • Works closely with the broader FBTC team to provide input and feedback, apprise of new developments, engage in collaborative projects, and share best practices.
  • Proactively identifies and manages risks to the bank, operating within the bank’s risk appetite.
  • Engages in public relations activities within the market. Maintains an active role in community affairs, serving on boards and committees of one or more organizations.
  • Oversees all branch properties to ensure adequate building and grounds that accommodate banking services.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field
  • MBA or Master’s Degree preferred
  • 10 - 15 years’ experience in banking, with specific experience in lending required
  • 5 years’ experience in a leadership capacity required
  • Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of concepts, practices, and principles and excellent problem solving skills, handling complex issues independently
  • Demonstrates exceptional organizational and business management skills
  • Demonstrates comprehensive skills in business planning and budget preparation and administration
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal, verbal, written and presentation skills due to the highly interactive nature of the position
  • Demonstrates strong listening skills
  • Demonstrates strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, fluid environment
  • Demonstrates ability to interact efficiently with Technology and utilize common office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and related applications; willingness to learn new technologies

Work Environment:

Business office setting with moderate noise level. Local travel to engage with potential and existing clients, as well as to the Headquarters location in Quincy, IL periodically, is required in this position.
