About the Role

Westervelt Ecological Services is seeking a highly motivated Senior Mitigation Project Manager to lead the development, permitting, implementation, and management of wetland and stream mitigation banking projects throughout the Southeast. This position will work in person from our Lawrenceville, Georgia office.

This role is ideal for an experienced environmental professional who combines strong scientific expertise with project management and leadership skills. You'll work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, regulatory agencies, consultants, landowners, and clients to deliver successful conservation outcomes while helping to grow and strengthen our mitigation banking program.

What You'll Do

As a Senior Conservation Project Manager, you will:

  • Evaluate the technical feasibility of new wetland and stream mitigation projects
  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams and manage consultant partnerships
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and deliverables
  • Prepare and manage documentation associated with mitigation bank entitlement, credit releases, and regulatory compliance
  • Author mitigation banking instruments, monitoring reports, and technical documents
  • Design and oversee baseline environmental studies and field data collection efforts
  • Collaborate closely with engineers to develop restoration and mitigation project designs
  • Coordinate with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Interagency Review Teams to support project approvals
  • Oversee construction, planting, monitoring, and subcontractor activities
  • Analyze ecological monitoring data and recommend adaptive management strategies
  • Partner with land management and stewardship teams to ensure long-term project compliance
  • Support business development efforts through client engagement, networking, and presentations at industry conferences
  • Identify innovative approaches that improve project delivery, efficiency, and operational effectiveness
  • Participate in company initiatives focused on sustainability, process improvement, safety, and leadership development
  • Mentor, coach, and support the growth of junior team members
  • Travel periodically to project sites and stakeholder meetings throughout the region
What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Ecology, Biology, Natural Resources, Hydrology, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in mitigation banking, ecological restoration, or a closely related industry
  • Strong technical experience with stream and wetland assessment methodologies, including SQT, HGM, and related field studies
  • Experience with special-status species assessments, habitat restoration, and environmental permitting
  • At least 5 years of project management and budget management experience
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects from concept through implementation
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to diverse audiences
  • Experience working both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Planner
  • Ability and willingness to travel and work outdoors in varying field conditions
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a related environmental discipline
  • Demonstrated success obtaining and managing mitigation bank approvals within the Savannah District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
  • Proficiency with GIS software, including ArcGIS Pro
  • Experience leading, mentoring, and developing junior staff and project teams
