Job Description
This Accountant supports the WCIB Commercial Lending Controller team, which is responsible for maintaining strong accounting oversight, controls, and financial reporting support for the business. As the team continues to centralize accounting activities and enhance processes, this role will support manual journal entry operations, account reconciliations, audit readiness, reporting, and control development. The position plays an important role in strengthening accounting processes, improving documentation, and supporting standardization efforts across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger and subsidiary ledger accounts.
  • Process and support manual journal entries and related accounting activities.
  • Prepare financial statements, accounting reports, and management reporting.
  • Develop and maintain accounting controls, procedures, and documentation.
  • Support audit requests and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding accounting policies, procedures, and accounting issues.
  • Perform account reconciliations and research accounting-related questions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve and standardize accounting processes.
  • Support reporting, analysis, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain and enhance automated accounting systems and reporting tools.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent work experience
  • Five to eight years of experience in financial accounting activities

Preferred Skills/Experience
  • Experience with manual journal entries, account reconciliations, and accounting operations
  • Experience supporting financial audits and audit documentation
  • Experience developing, documenting, and improving accounting controls and processes
  • Experience with accounting reporting and analysis
  • Experience working within a controller organization
  • Banking or financial services industry experience preferred
  • Proficient computer skills, especially Microsoft Office applications
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, and XLOOKUP
  • Experience with Workday and Essbase/SmartView preferred
  • Considerable knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other regulations
  • Ability to identify and resolve exceptions and analyze data
  • Demonstrated initiative, critical thinking, and a willingness to learn and grow
  • CPA or CMA preferred

Location Expectations:
This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $92,820.00 - $109,200.00
