Description:

John Marshall Bank has an immediate opening for an experienced Loan Administrator to support the Lending Team in our Tysons, VA office. In this role you will perform a variety of administrative functions necessary to support the relationship management of the lending portfolio. This individual will work with loan officers and other departments to assist customers and resolve problems assuring consistent communication in a professional and timely manner. This position supports a team of Commercial Lenders and offers cross-training to support other commercial loan operations functions.

 
 

In this role you will

  • Assist Lenders by providing administrative support as assigned for all aspects of the lending program including credit file set-up and maintenance, maturities, past dues, and exceptions
  • Administer loan closings to include credit file transfer to Credit Administration, underwriting requests and maintenance of in-house loan documentation
  • Perform a variety of filing functions and preparation of various reports Identify credit and non-credit sales opportunities for the Bank and refer to the appropriate individual
  • Serve as a secondary contact point for present and potential customers. Coordinate correspondence and follow-up activities, both verbal and written, between clients and loan officers
  • Assist in follow-up activities to reduce delinquencies and to maintain file documentation in a current status
  • Promote or cross-sells Bank products and services to existing and potential customers
  • Respond to inquiries from customers, loan officers, and/or interdepartmental personnel concerning the status of and/or problems arising during the course of commercial loan and deposit transactions
  • Research circumstances and seek to provide rapid, positive, and accurate communications and resolutions to problems encountered
  • Obtain and review preliminary documentation from customers required to underwrite loans: articles of incorporation, tax reports, census tract information, OFAC searches, appraisals, surveys, title commitments
  • Notify underwriter of irregularities relative to standard underwriting guidelines
  • Coordinate external attorney loan documentation related to hazard and flood insurance, OFAC, Good Standing on UCC searches
  • Arrange loan closings with attorneys or Loan Documentation Department
  • Follow up on tickler files for each loan to assure adherence to the covenants and conditions pertaining to each loan
  • Review customer files to determine what financial and other information is needed or required and prepare the correspondence to customers requesting needed information. Contact customers to obtain necessary information such as financial statements, etc. Assure each item is addressed for appropriate action such as scheduling, updates of applicable financials, and certifications of appropriate aspects of the business, etc.
  • Build and maintain loan file folders according to Bank standards
  • Review title work and loan documents for completeness and accuracy
  • Clear Exceptions Report on a regular basis
  • Handle customer requests for loan advances and coordinates advances with the Loan Operations area
  • Service bank clients on a daily basis to provide loan and deposit information, status updates and requested information
  • Provide a high level of customer support to address service and/or risk-related matters, cross-sells additional financial services where appropriate
  • Manage the entire loan closing process to include meeting with customers and interfacing with appropriate Bank personnel to coordinate the completion of the necessary documentation
  • Possess a thorough understanding of the Bank’s loan operating systems and programs to obtain needed information to support officers and customer inquiries.
  • Pull copies and distribute reports for officers daily/weekly, regarding past dues, tickler exceptions, and notes coming due reports. Prepare weekly past due and production reports including coordinating the gathering of accurate information for lenders in a timely manner
  • Carry out responsibilities with professionalism and respect for others in accordance with the Bank’s policies and applicable laws
  • Anticipate needs of Commercial Lending Team
  • Responsible for complying with the various rules, regulations, policies, and ethical standards governing the financial services industry.
  • Perform other duties and/or special projects of a similar level of complexity as assigned
Requirements:

Required

  • Associate’s degree
  • 3 years of experience in a commercial lending/relationship management support role
  • Familiarity with the commercial lending process
  • Intermediate level with spreadsheets, word processing, and email applications
  • Self-starter with strong administrative and organizational skills and an eagerness to learn
  • Adaptability and problem-solving approach necessary
  • Excellent attention to detail, deadlines, and results
  • Ability to stay focused while multi-tasking, often during tight deadlines
  • Strong communication skills and a superior ability to work effectively and cooperatively within a team environment


Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5-8 years of experience in a commercial lending/relationship management support role
  • Loan documentation experience preferred
  • Laser Pro system experience preferred
  • Positive attitude with a strong customer service focus



Compensation for this role ranges from $60,000.00 to $95,000 annually, commensurate with your experience and qualifications.
