Job description

About the role

As a Sr. Snowflake Technical Lead, you will make an impact by leading the design, implementation, and optimization of enterprise-scale cloud data platforms built on Snowflake and AWS. You will be a valued member of the Data & Analytics team and work collaboratively with client stakeholders, architects, business leaders, and global delivery teams to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing data solutions.

In this role, you will:
  • Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of enterprise Snowflake Data Warehouse and Lakehouse solutions.
  • Partner directly with clients to facilitate solution workshops, architecture discussions, and requirements discovery sessions.
  • Drive technical leadership across global onsite and offshore teams, ensuring high-quality delivery and adherence to project timelines.
  • Establish and promote best practices for data engineering, data modeling, governance, security, performance optimization, and cost management.
  • Provide hands-on leadership in Snowflake, dbt, AWS, Python, and modern data engineering technologies while mentoring engineering teams.

What you need to have to be considered
  • 12+ years of experience in data engineering, data warehousing, and cloud data platform delivery.
  • 5+ years of hands‑on experience designing and implementing Snowflake solutions in enterprise environments.
  • Strong expertise in data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, star and snowflake schemas, Data Vault, and Lakehouse architectures.
  • Hands‑on experience with dbt, including model development, testing, deployment automation, and data transformation frameworks.
  • Strong experience with AWS data services including S3, Glue, Lambda, Athena, Step Functions, IAM, and CloudWatch.
  • Advanced SQL development and query optimization experience.
  • Proficiency in Python for data processing, automation, integrations, and data quality frameworks.
  • Experience leading distributed onsite-offshore teams in Agile delivery environments.
  • Strong client-facing communication, stakeholder management, and consulting skills.
  • Proven ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions and lead architecture discussions.

  • Snowflake SnowPro Certification.
  • AWS Certification, such as Solutions Architect or Data Engineer.
  • Experience implementing Snowflake security, RBAC, governance, data sharing, and cost optimization frameworks.
  • Experience with orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools including Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins.
  • Experience supporting Banking, Financial Services, Insurance, or Healthcare clients.
  • Experience contributing to solutioning, estimations, proposals, and pre-sales activities.
  • Demonstrated success mentoring engineers and establishing technical standards and best practices across organizations.

Salary and Other Compensation

The annual salary for this position is between $ 150,000 - $ 175,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
