Job description

First Hawaiian Bank is currently seeking a Vice President, Public Relations Manager to join the Corporate Communications team.

Work Schedule:

Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (hours may vary) 

Compensation:

The pay range for this role is $110,000 - $140,000/yr; commensurate with experience

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, business, related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience required. 
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in public relations and corporate communications, including media relations, executive communications, and enterprise messaging required.
  • Master's degree in communications, marketing, business, or related discipline preferred.
  • Experience in financial or regulated business environment, highly desirable preferred. 
  • Proven experience developing and executing PR and communication strategies for complex, mission-driven, or corporate institutions.
  • Demonstrated success partnering within a marketing communications team to deliver integrated, strategically sound, brand-aligned communications.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate complex business initiatives into clear, actionable communications for internal and external audiences.
  • Strong track record of building influence and trust with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Experience managing external partners or agencies to achieve disciplined execution and measurable outcomes.
  • Passion for brand building, earned media, and purpose-driven storytelling that reinforces organizational value sand community impact.
  • Demonstrated passion for collaborating with a high-performing team that has high standards of success.
  • Demonstrated alignment with organizational values, including collaboration, accountability, and community stewardship.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to craft clear, compelling messages for internal and external audiences across multiple formats (written, digital, multimedia).

  • Strong strategic communications consulting skills, with sound judgement and discretion in high-visibility or sensitive situations.
  • Demonstrated project management and execution skills, including the ability to manage multiple initiatives, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with high levels of accuracy, ensuring consistency, credibility, and brand alignment across all communications.
  • Self-motivated professional with problem solving skills, the ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement, and collaborate with various levels across the enterprise.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and familiarity with modern communications, content, and collaboration tools.

The Vice President, Public Relations Manager is responsible for driving enterprise-wide implementation of the Bank's public relations, community relations, and corporate communications strategy. This position collaborates with the marketing communications team and cross-functional stakeholders to advance the Bank's mission, values, and long-term objectives by shaping communications that strengthen the bank's brand, enhance reputation, and reinforce the Bank's leadership position in Hawaii. 
This position partners closely with Marketing Communications, leadership, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver integrated communications plans that are disciplined, outcomes-driven, and aligned to business priorities. The PR Manager exercises sound judgement, accountability, and influence to ensure timely, accurate, and consistent messaging that reflects the Bank's commitment to its customers, community and employees.
