The Baltimore County Department of Recreation and Parks is accepting applications for Beach and Parks Managers - Miami Beach and Rocky Point Beach Summer Seasonal Employment.
Schedule: 40 hours per week - Summer Season
This job announcement may close at any time with little or no notice. Applicants are advised to apply promptly.
Locations: Must have reliable transportation. Facilities are not served by public transportation.
Miami Beach is located at 4001 Bay Drive, Middle River, Maryland 21220.
Rocky Point Beach is located at 2200 Rocky Point Road, Essex, Maryland 21221.
Definition of Responsibility
Responsible for the operation and supervision of an assigned beach, park, or other facility.

Examples of Duties
Job Purpose
Under general supervision, will manage the operation and supervision of the Miami Beach and Rocky Point Beach facilities.
Examples of Essential Job Duties
  • Supervise, schedule, and train Assistant Beach Managers, lifeguards, and cashiers.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment necessary for the proper functioning of the facility.
  • Monitor cashiers and verify daily transactions, reports, and deposits.
  • Make bank deposits.
  • Supervise rentals of watersports equipment.
  • Supervise and lead programs.
  • Deal with customers as situations arise.
  • Safeguard swimmers and non-swimmers using beach and park facilities.
  • Enforce swimming and facility rules and regulations for the public.
  • Keep facilities clean and free from hazards.
  • Alert patrons to changing weather and water conditions.
  • Perform routine tasks as assigned. (Such as cleaning bathrooms, removing trash from barrels, cleaning grills and grounds, and minor maintenance.)
  • Lead programs for the public and various groups.

Examples of Other Duties
Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years of age by May 1, 2026
Must be able to work weekends and holidays throughout the summer and have days off on weekdays
Must have reliable transportation
Facilities are not located on public transportation lines
Must be able to pass a criminal background check, physical, and drug test
Preferred Considerations
Three (3) years of lifeguarding experience preferred
Prior experience in customer service is preferred
Applicants having the ability to work the entire season, from Memorial Day to Labor Day, will be considered first.
Licenses and Certificates
Must have current Lifeguard Certification by May 1, 2026
Must have current First Aid/CPR/AED by May 1, 2026
Must have Waterfront Skills Certification by May 1, 2026
Conditions of Employment
Seasonal Non-Merit positions are not classified within the Baltimore County Government Classification and Compensation Plan.
Seasonal positions are not included in the Employees' Benefits Plan.

Health Insurance
In order to qualify for health insurance benefits (medical, prescription, dental and vision insurance), part-time employees must be scheduled for four (4) full work days plus two (2) hours each week.
Health Insurance benefits elected become effective the first day of the month following the date of hire if the employee has completed online enrollment prior to that date. New employees must enroll within thirty (30) calendar days of hire. Plans offered include:
Medical, Prescription, Dental and Vision insurance.
Flexible Spending Accounts
Opportunity to set aside pre-tax dollars, through payroll deduction, for eligible unreimbursed medical care expenses and/or dependent care costs.
Life Insurance
In order to qualify for life insurance benefits, part-time employees must be scheduled for four (4) full work days plus two (2) hours each week.
Employees may elect basic term life insurance for themselves equal to one time the employee's annual salary, rounded to the next higher $1,000. Employees contribute a portion of the premium through monthly payroll deductions. The County also offers an Additional/Employee paid Life Insurance plan with coverage up to $100,000.
Retirement
Employees are required to participate in the Baltimore County Employees' Retirement System, with very limited exceptions.
Paid Leave
Sick Leave - Monthly sick leave earnings prorated based on the number of hours worked per week. No maximum on accrual. Accrued balance can be applied toward service credit at retirement.
Vacation Leave - Monthly vacation leave earnings prorated based on the number of hours worked per week. Earnings increase after five, ten and fifteen years of service generally.
Holidays - Part-time 30 to 39 hour non-merit or non-classified employees will generally be paid for ten holidays per calendar year. Other part-time, non-merit or non-classified employees working 29 hours per week or less will receive two paid holidays per calendar year. These holidays are the Christmas holiday and the Independence Day holiday.
