Key Result Areas:

Performance Standards

Product Development

  • Contribute to the business objectives and strategic product development by assisting with the evaluation and improvement of existing product lines as identified to maximize profit.ย 
  • Contribute to the business objectives and strategic product development by assisting with and/or developing, formulating and testing new products to meet customer requirements.ย  Ensure the products meet standards before market introduction/launch.
  • This is a largely hands-on position involving laboratory development of formulations to be sold as dry mixes for the industrial production of cakes, donuts, muffins and other sweet goods.
  • Projects typically involve improving flavor, color, volume, texture, stale-free shelf life and mold-free shelf life of sweet goods
  • Report results, findings, conclusions and recommendations on all new ingredients, products and suppliers to maximize profit and ensure a competitive advantage.
  • Assist with technology innovation andย stay abreast of new ingredients and developments in the sweet good areas including technical literature, trade literature and patents
  • Fulfil the role of a Project Manager by adhering to the New Product Development Process, including all documentation. Ideation to product launch.
  • Responsible for assisting with and/or evaluating and reporting on potential new AB Mauri products from GBI and sister companies, as required.
  • Conduct all activities in a safe manner, wear PPE as necessary.

Technical Services

  • Contribute to technical training seminars and/or information, as requested.
  • Provide manufacturing, sales and marketing support upon request.
  • Support procurement by evaluating and testing new and alternative raw materials.
  • Assist with providing technical information and assistance to sales, marketing and customers with implementation of products, especially customized as needed, thus building a collaborative relationship with vendors and customer.
  • Support TSMs in the field, as required.

Expense Control

  • Ensure department expenses are within budget.
  • Comply with the Corporate Travel policy and control spending.
  • Contribute to department and capital budget preparations to ensure budget meets laboratory needs, as requested.

Reporting

  • Actively update line management on progression of projects.
  • Communicate results, conclusions and recommendations of new product testing in accurate and timely manner to all appropriate personnel.
  • Professionally interact and communicate with Product Management, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Marketing, Quality, Sales and other departments.
  • Complete weekly reports and monthly project reviews by due date.
  • Complete project documentations within the product life cycle management software.
  • Accurately document project progress and reports, including making conclusions, and recommendations.

A COMBINATION OF THE LISTED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE IS PREFERRED

  • Bachelorโ€™s degreeย or higher inย Bakery Science,ย Food Science, or a related discipline; or in lieu of a degree, aย minimum of 4 yearsย of relevant professional experience.
  • Candidate should be willing to learn ingredient functionality including enzymes, hydrocolloids, emulsifiers, leavening agents and more
  • The ideal candidate is capable or willing to learn to formulate donuts, cakes, and muffins for industrial bakeries
  • Knowledge of dry mix operations and industrial sweet good production is very helpful
  • The ideal candidate will have analytical skills or be willing to learn standard analytical tests associated with dry mixes and sweet goods
  • Ability to work with standard computer software such as Windows, Excel, Word and the ability to learn other specialized software specific to AB Mauri
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks.
