This is an immediate opening!

Ellen's Bakery & Cafe in Sylvan Lake seeking an assistant bread baker to join our existing team. The ideal candidate will have great communication skills, stamina, be a team player, and love to work.

•This is a part-time position requires you to work the night shift

•You must be available Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 5:30pm-2am

•Professional baking experience is beneficial, but we are willing to train the right person

Your duties will include :

• Mixing, scaling, hand shaping loaves & rolls and baking doughs, as well as cleanup

• You must be able to lift 50 pounds 

• You must be very dependable and have reliable transportation

• This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has passion for bread baking but perhaps does not have extensive experience  

• Job Type: Part-time Salary: $16.50 to $20.00 /hour 

• 50% off shift meals! 

Chef Ellen grew up in the Washington D.C. Suburbs of Virginia.
She studied theater and art at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, and then moved to Blacksburg, Virginia where she found a job in a local bakery. After seven years, she returned to the D.C. Area to work in a local restaurant before attending the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York in 1988.
She met George in August of that year. Her extern from the CIA was spent at Ridgewells Caterer in Maryland, where she met her pastry mentor, Chef Karl Meuller. After graduation, she moved to Michigan to work at the Grand Plaza Hotel in Grand Rapids.
George and Ellen were married in 1992 and settled in Sylvan Lake one year later.
