Position Summary

Lenny’s Cafe, opening this fall, is seeking a friendly, energetic, and customer-focused Barista / Cashier to join our front-of-house team. This role is responsible for providing exceptional customer service, preparing coffee and beverage items, operating the POS system, and maintaining a clean and welcoming café environment.

The ideal candidate is personable, dependable, fast-paced, and thrives in a busy café setting while delivering a positive guest experience.


Key Responsibilities

Customer Service

  • Greet customers warmly and provide professional, friendly service
  • Take customer orders accurately and efficiently
  • Answer questions regarding menu items, ingredients, and café offerings
  • Resolve customer concerns professionally and escalate issues when required
  • Maintaining a positive and welcoming atmosphere at all times

Cashier Duties

  • Operate POS system accurately
  • Process cash, debit, credit, and mobile payments
  • Balance cash drawer and follow cash handling procedures
  • Package takeout and delivery orders correctly
  • Assist with opening and closing front counter duties

Beverage Preparation

  • Prepare coffee, espresso-based beverages, teas, and specialty drinks according to café standards
  • Steam milk and prepare beverages with consistency and attention to presentation
  • Restock cups, lids, syrups, and beverage supplies
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of coffee stations and equipment

Front Counter & Café Maintenance

  • Keep front counter, display cases, condiment stations, and dining area clean and stocked
  • Refill bakery displays and merchandise as needed
  • Assist with light food preparation and packaging when required
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures

Teamwork & Operational Support

  • Communicate effectively with kitchen and management teams
  • Support coworkers during busy service periods

· Assist with additional café duties as assigned by management

Cleaning & Sanitation

  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation at all times
  • Wash dishes, utensils, trays, and kitchen equipment as required
  • Follow all sanitation, food handling, and health & safety procedures
  • Take out garbage and assist with end-of-day cleaning duties
  • Follow monthly, weekly, daily tasks

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Previous café, coffee shop, restaurant, or customer service experience (1-2 Years)
  • Experience using POS systems considered an asset
  • Basic knowledge of espresso machines and coffee preparation considered an asset
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Must have Food Safety Certifications
