Job description

BAE Systems Weapons System (WS) Product Line (PL) is looking for a Program Engineering Manager II (PEM II) to provide technical oversight and serve as the primary technical liaison for Radio Frequency (RF) seeker development efforts; coordinate program plans between the WS LRPF programs and RF seeker supplier efforts; and coordinate changes to seeker supplier's statement of work (SOW), schedule, and requirements. The Seeker PEM II will act as a technical point of contact for interface with US Government customers, LRPF program managers, other LRPF PEMs, seeker supplier, and senior-level management on engineering issues. This hybrid position (>50% on-site) provides technical leadership and direction to multi-disciplinary staff at the BAE Systems Maple Grove, Minnesota and BAE Systems Huntsville, Alabama facilities and may include up to 50% travel.
In this job, you will:
  • Technical Leadership: Advise stakeholders, government teams, engineering teams, and program management through key technical decisions focused on hardware maturation, RF development, seeker software architecture, and direction-finding algorithm execution to meet program goals.
  • RF Seeker Oversight: Provide dedicated technical oversight for RF seeker development efforts throughout its entire lifecycle in coordination with LRPF program PMs/PEMs
  • Contractual Technical Authority: Act as the Contracting Officer's Technical Representative (COTR) explicitly overseeing RF seeker development supplier contract deliverables.
  • Weapons-to-Seeker Representative: Serve as the technical leader to the RF seeker supplier to align requirements for sensor hardware and radar modes.
  • Design and Schedule Checkpoint: Act as the engineering checkpoint to validate the seeker supplier's RF hardware design, software maturation schedule, and performance solutions.
  • LRPF Program Coordination: Coordinate program plans between the seeker supplier program plans and LRPF program plans.
  • SOW and Requirements Management: Manage and coordinate changes to the supplier's statement of work (SOW), schedules, and technical requirements.
  • Sensor Subject Matter Expert: Help build Weapon Systems capabilities to serve as the RF seeker integrator for the broader Weapons Systems PGM product line.
  • Status Management: Obtain technical milestone, cost, and schedule status updates from the RF seeker suppliers and provide status updates to LRPF program management.
  • Integration Planning: Coordinate the integration of seeker hardware testing and software verification plans into overarching LRPF program timelines.
  • Team Supervision: Perform traditional technical support duties, working with seeker supplier's technical leaders, including motivating and evaluating RF seeker development teams efforts.

Required Skills and Education
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering is required, with 10+ years of applicable experience.
  • Expertise in technical leadership leading technical staff, with 2+ years managing or developing one or more related weapon systems technologies
  • This role requires presence in a manufacturing or fabrication environment. The incumbent must be able to access and safely navigate production areas which may include climbing, kneeling, stooping, and working in confined spaces. Must also be able to comply with all requirements including the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with company policy.
