Business Trial Junior Associate

Southern California & San Francisco | 1–4 Years Experience

Direct Counsel represents an AmLaw 50 firm seeking an accomplished Litigation Associate to join its nationally recognized Insurance Litigation practice.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on complex, high-stakes insurance disputes representing some of the nation's largest insurers. The team handles sophisticated matters involving insurance coverage, bad faith, class actions, and emerging insurance risks across California and nationwide.

The Role
  • Handle complex insurance litigation matters from inception through resolution.
  • Represent major insurers in coverage, bad faith, and class action matters.
  • Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other litigation documents.
  • Participate in discovery, depositions, hearings, and other litigation proceedings.
  • Assist with matters involving novel coverage and extracontractual issues.
  • Work closely with experienced litigators on high-value, complex disputes.
  • Develop practical litigation strategies while maintaining strong client relationships.
Qualifications
  • 1–4 years of insurance litigation experience required.
  • Experience with insurance coverage, insurance bad faith, and/or class action litigation required.
  • Active California Bar membership required.
  • Strong academic credentials.
  • Excellent legal writing, oral advocacy, research, and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to take ownership of assignments.
  • Demonstrated initiative, reliability, and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Federal district or appellate clerkship is a plus.
Compensation
  • $225,000–$310,000, depending on experience and qualifications
