Job description

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Platform/DevOps Engineer for a contract position with a Leading Consumer Electronics Retailer located in Richfield, MN. This is a 6+ month contract opportunity.

This role is part of an Infrastructure Platform Foundations team dedicated to platform automation and maintaining operational excellence. The project focuses on building automation tools to streamline AWS and on-premise infrastructure management, reduce sprawl, and embed governance, security, and cost control into the platform, empowering teams to operate efficiently and securely within a scalable cloud environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement infrastructure automation using Terraform
  • Manage configuration management using Chef
  • Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines and processes
  • Define best practices for cloud security, monitoring, cost, and optimizations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate cloud solutions
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to cloud infrastructure and services
  • Stay updated with AWS services, features, and industry trends to recommend improvements
  • Provide on-call support for escalations and incidents

Requirements:

  • 10+ years as a proven System Engineer, Platform Engineer, or DevOps Engineer focused on building platform automation tools and maintaining AWS infrastructure
  • 5+ years of experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform or CloudFormation)
  • 5+ years of experience building CI/CD pipelines using DevOps practices
  • 3+ years of experience with Configuration Management (Chef or Ansible)
  • Strong understanding of networking, security, and scalability concepts in cloud environments
  • Effective collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues
  • Excellent communication skills to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Desired skills:

  • Direct Experience in building Internal Developer Platforms
  • Experience building applications using programming languages like Python, Ruby, Node or Java
  • Experience working with ServiceNow, particularly with CMDB
  • Understanding of container technologies including Docker, Kubernetes, EKS
  • Knowledge of the Backstage Developer Portal for unified platform creation
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and software development life cycle (SDLC)
  • AWS certification (e.g., AWS solution architect)
