Location: Washington, DC Metropolitan Area
Schedule: On-Call / As-Needed; hours are not guaranteed
Work Location: Primarily remote/contractor location with recurring availability to report to Washington, DC
Security Requirement: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance

Position Summary

CFDay is seeking highly experienced Senior Investigators to provide on-call, as-needed investigative support to a federal Office of Inspector General (OIG).

This position is intended for experienced investigative professionals who can provide support when required based on Government investigative workload and case requirements. This is not a traditional full-time position, and a minimum number of hours is not guaranteed.

The Senior Investigator will support complex civil and criminal investigations and may perform investigative planning, research, interviews, evidence review and analysis, investigative documentation, litigation support, intelligence-gathering activities, and coordination with federal and other law-enforcement organizations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the planning and execution of complex civil and criminal investigations.
  • Develop investigative approaches, theories, and evidence-collection strategies.
  • Conduct background investigations and open-source research involving individuals, businesses, organizations, and other investigative subjects.
  • Prepare for and conduct or support investigative interviews.
  • Review and analyze documentary and electronic evidence, including emails, communications, telephone records, internet information, bid documents, court filings, transcripts, recordings, and other evidence.
  • Prepare affidavits, interview reports, evidence summaries, investigative reports, and related case documentation.
  • Support sensitive investigations and intelligence-gathering activities when authorized.
  • Coordinate investigative activities with local, state, federal, and international law-enforcement organizations.
  • Support joint investigations with other Government agencies.
  • Provide litigation support, including evidence and discovery organization, investigative timelines, summary materials, witness preparation, hearings, depositions, grand jury proceedings, and trials.
  • Provide testimony when required and authorized.
  • Provide training, mentoring, and guidance to Government investigators regarding investigative techniques and practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 15 years of experience conducting complex civil and/or criminal investigations.
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance if required by the Government.
  • Ability to satisfy applicable Government background investigation and suitability requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting complex investigations and developing appropriate investigative documentation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with Government investigators, attorneys, law-enforcement personnel, witnesses, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to report to Washington, DC on a recurring basis as required.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates possessing one or more of the following:

  • White-collar crime, fraud, financial crime, or similar investigative experience.
  • Prior federal law-enforcement investigative experience.
  • Prior Office of Inspector General investigative experience.
  • International criminal and/or civil investigative experience.
  • Intelligence-gathering experience, including developing and operating human sources.
  • Investigative data-analysis experience.
  • Experience training or mentoring investigators.
  • Active or recently held Top Secret security clearance.
  • Experience supporting federal litigation, grand jury proceedings, hearings, depositions, or trials.

Work Schedule and Availability

This position provides investigative services on an as-needed basis. Work assignments and hours will fluctuate based on Government requirements, investigative workload, and authorized tasking. There is no guarantee of a minimum number of hours.

When assigned, personnel may be required to support activities during the Government's normal operating hours of Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET.

Work is expected to be performed primarily remotely or at the contractor's facility; however, selected personnel must be able to report to DFC Headquarters in Washington, DC on a recurring basis as required.
