Department Overview:
Jazz at Five is a non-profit 501(c)3 cooperation- operating for over 30 years. Jazz at Five provides free outdoor Jazz concerts on Wednesday nights in the Summer. We are always looking to expand the diversity of our audience to match the makeup of Madison.
The Jazz at Five Performance Series is hosted on the Capitol Grounds. Our 2026 Performance dates are August 5, 12, 19, 26 and September 2. Jazz at Five's mission is to bring the Dane County community together with the art form of Jazz.
Jazz at Five seeks to:
  • Promote the appreciation of jazz as a unique American art form
  • Provide a continuing source of public awareness through performance
  • Make downtown Madison and now Fitchburg the places to be
  • Encourage the growth and retention of cultural/musical opportunities and jazz performers in the community

Schedule:
Schedule is flexible. Intern will schdule meetings with Event Director and do most work remotely. Intern must attend at least three of the five Performance Series concerts. Dates are August 5, 12, 19, 26 and September 2 at the State Capitol building.
Salary/Wage Range:
Monthly $300.00 to $600.00

Position Summary/Job Duties:
The Intern will be compensated for the entire internship based on evaluation in September.
Responsibilities:
  1. Employee will be responsible for the following aspects of planning Jazz at Five events
    1. Updating the Jazz media kit
    2. Updating Jazz Mailchimp
    3. Designing Series Program Brochure
    4. Updating Jazz social media
    5. Creating newsletter surveys
    6. On-site show work - setup and running the show
    7. Background information research

Benefits:
  1. Up to $100/month at the end of the internship
  2. Mostly Remote Work -Schedule is flexible

Qualifications:
Knowledge in event planning, canva and social media marketing preferred
