of various sizes and types of meters. Duties will include, but are not limited to, assisting the Maintenance Supervisors with daily activities and the Engineering Technician with electronic wholesale meters. As needed, assist various inspectors and others on inspections and test backflow prevention assemblies and devices. Duties may include supervising skilled and semi-skilled employees, and work is performed in accordance with established procedures, but requires initiative and independent judgment. The position reports to a division supervisor, unit supervisor or designee.
This Utilities Maintenance 3 position is located at: Utilities Maintenance South, 6730 142nd Avenue, Largo, FL 33771. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
What Will You Do?
- Proficiency in City Works to accurately track and account for work performed on meter assets.
- Proficiency in City Works to accurately track and account for work performed on meter assets.
- Proficiency in GIS mapping to responded to emergencies and maintain our distribution system safety.
- QA/QC workorders and assets installed through annual contractors and furnished work orders.
- Monitor/troubleshoot meet issues using Beacon.
- Order and maintain stock of parts, tools, and gaskets as well as handle warranty issues/concerns.
- Selects and trains new personnel, prepares work schedules, conducts performance evaluations.
- Complete work-related reports and/or maintains operation and maintenance logs.
- Routes their daily work to provide efficient use of time and labor for daily work and small projects.
- Assigns and directs work on installations of large devices.
- Responsible for inventory of truck as well as tools and parts.
- Make inspections of work site in advance of work performed.
- Make personal contact with public and private citizens to resolve complaints and to provide information.
- Respond to emergency calls as need or as directed.
- Ensure that adequate types and amounts of equipment and materials are available for project completion and consistently monitors and checks safety practices and procedures.
- Collaborate with other team members on variety of tasks and lead installation teams.
- Schedule work with customers for meter and backflow installations.
- Assist with warranty function for group.
- Perform related work as assigned or required.
What Do You Need
High school graduate and 4 years of skilled utilities field experience; or
An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
Possession and maintenance of a valid State of Florida Driver's License upon hire with eligibility based upon evaluation of a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) driving report.
Must obtain and maintain throughout employment a "Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester's License" (approved agencies include: FW&PCOA, TREEO, ABPA, or another agency pre-approved by Pinellas County within one year of employment. Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.
Highly Desirable
- Experience with underground utilities water or sewer; water meter management: plumbing and/or backflow prevention.
- Experience working with a variety of meters and backflow assemblies and devices.
- Experience operating a computerized maintenance management system to create work orders and service request, track business and create schedules.
- Proven leadership skills including leading a variety of teams.
- Good writing skills to provide multiple reports, emails, memos and research documents.
- Experience with Excel.
- DEP Level 3 License.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of utilities lines, meters and/or backflow prevention assemblies.
Knowledge and ability to use various hand tools, power tools and digital equipment.
Knowledge and ability to analyze meter related issues and take corrective action.
Ability to read, comprehend and use the information found in electronic and hard copy manuals, on drawings and in manufacturers' instructions.
