Job description

Job Posting – Back End Specialist

 

The Back End Specialist is responsible for the setting-up, adjusting, repairing, maintaining, and overhauling of process related equipment.  

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Subject matter expert in the Deco, Spray, Necker and Palletizer areas.
  • Understands and complies with position related safety SOPs and work instructions, especially for Lockout/Tagout, Chemical Handling, Machine Guarding, Housekeeping, SQF, and Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Working knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) to drive process improvement.
  • Technical plant resource.
  • Address spoilage issues and provide troubleshooting expertise.
  • Instruct, train and participate in the certification process for plant employees as directed.
  • Make proper diagnosis, adjustment, repair, and set up of assigned equipment.
  • Active participant in maintenance day planning and preparation.
  • Required to work all maintenance days and drive maintenance activities until start up.
  • Assist/Lead 6S projects and TPM in the back end.
  • Manage Fiix work orders and ensure that work orders are being completed by back end team members, as needed.
  • Provide support to Operations by staying over and providing on-call coverage, as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven leadership, ensuring safety and operational standards are met. 
  • Mechanically inclined; familiar with hand tools.
  • Knowledge of the internal production process, from the washer discharge and back.
  • Familiar with proper handling of chemicals/solvents.
  • Must have Store Room knowledge – finding parts and signing out parts.
  • Understanding of Front End process is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5+ years previous mechanical/fast-paced manufacturing experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.

KEY JOB COMPETENCIES/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Able to stand for a long duration of time, more than 8 hours per day.
  • Able to bend and rotate body repeatedly.
  • Able to lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Exposure to heat, cold, vibrations, odors/fumes, and loud noise.
  • Willing and able to work overtime, weekends, holidays and night shifts as needed.
