Technology and Operations - Developer - Back End III
Location: Silver Spring, Maryland (Remote)
Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated Back-end Developer to join a dynamic software team within Media Technology and Operations. This role focuses on automating workflows, building user-friendly toolsets, and solving operational challenges related to content flows and media systems. The team supports various operations, including live sports and major media networks, by creating and improving scalable cloud-based services.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain applications using cloud architecture, working within Jira and Git environments.
  • Build efficient, scalable, secure, and observable applications based on user stories and technical designs.
  • Construct and maintain highly scalable services and workflows.
  • Collaborate on new application designs with teammates, including front-end developers, Quality Analysts, and Business Analysts.
  • Participate actively in team meetings and code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback.
  • Address technical issues proactively and responsively.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience designing and building backend services for workflow orchestration platforms, such as Temporal, including expertise in workflow execution, state management, and task routing.
  • 5+ years of experience demonstrating an understanding of the fundamental design principles behind a scalable application.
  • 5+ years of solid experience with Rust as a primary language, alongside one or more of the following: Node.js, C#, or Python.
  • Proficiency in SQL and document database development.
  • Firm understanding of cloud infrastructure and capability for self-deployments in a container pipeline.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A BA/BS degree is preferred.
  • A background in Media workflows.
