Job description

About the Position Keep Saint Paul moving by joining the Fleet Services Division as a Storekeeper. In this hands-on role, you'll help ensure mechanics and technicians have the parts, tools, and supplies they need to maintain the City's diverse fleet of vehicles and equipment. If you enjoy inventory management, problem-solving, customer service, and working in a fast-paced environment, this is an opportunity to play a critical role in supporting essential City operations.

Here's what you can expect to do: Order, receive, stock, and distribute parts, tools, equipment, and supplies needed to maintain the City's fleet. Help technicians identify and obtain the correct parts for vehicles, heavy trucks, and equipment repairs. Track inventory, process orders and invoices, and maintain accurate records using computerized systems.

Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment to move, store, and organize materials. Coordinate with vendors, manage parts deliveries and returns, and help keep fleet operations running smoothly. For more information and essential functions, see the Storekeeper job description.

Information Specific to this Position: The current full-time opening is in Fleet Services and requires a Class B CDL license or higher within twelve months of employment. The work schedule is four 10 hour shifts from 2 p.m. to 12:30 a.m

and receives a 6.5% night differential for time worked after 6 p.m. This position will work inside and outdoors in all types of weather conditions. The eligible list created from this assessment will also be used to fill positions as they become available in various departments. Other departments require a Class D driver's license. Position Requirements Two years of experience performing clerical and manual work involving the ordering, receiving, picking up, delivering, storing, issuing materials, equipment, and supplies, and associated duties. Must possess and maintain a valid Minnesota Class D Driver's License or equivalent out of state driver's license. For Storekeeper positions in Fleet Services: Must possess a Class B Commercial Driver's License or higher within twelve months of employment.

The CDL must have no suspensions or revocations for driving-related offenses during the two year period prior to the date of appointment. Suspensions for parking-related offenses are excluded. Must pass a DOT required pre-employment drug screen and submit to DOT mandated random drug and alcohol testing after hire.

Preferred Requirements: Knowledge of vehicle systems, equipment, and mechanical components. Experience using a forklift. Experience ordering, shipping, and disposing of hazardous materials.

Final Selection Process: Those who pass will be placed on an eligible list for approximately six months and all will be notified of their status. A Hiring Manager will consider those applicants eligible for hire.
