Job description

Summary
The Senior Project Manager leads B&D's most complex, high-value construction projects from initiation through closeout. This role is accountable for total project success - customer satisfaction, safety, quality, schedule, and financial performance - while serving as a business manager for the company and an Area Manager in training.
This position requires working knowledge across Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems, with the ability to coordinate trades, interpret multi-discipline drawings, and drive integrated execution in the field. The Senior Project Manager operates with a high degree of independent judgment, owning portfolio-level decisions across budgets, resources, contracts, and personnel. They stand in for the Area Manager when required, provide supervision and mentorship to direct reports, and serve as the senior point of contact for customers, general contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
Success in this role demands initiative, competitive drive, sound business judgment, and the ability to stay focused on results despite changing field conditions. The Senior Project Manager is firm, goal-oriented, and motivational - building high-performing teams while protecting B&D's reputation as a premier specialty contractor.
Benefits
• Robust 401 (k) program with safe harbor and profit share (no match required)
• Excellent health, dental, and vision insurance
• Flexible PTO
• 8 Paid holiday
• Collaborative and supportive culture
Responsibilities
  • Read and fully understand all contract language and implement it into project management practices
  • Lead large-scale, multi-trade, or high-risk projects with significant budget, schedule, and stakeholder complexity
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects and prioritize resources across the portfolio to meet organizational goals
  • Serve as the senior escalation point for complex project issues, disputes, and risk mitigation strategies
  • Participate in customer partnership meetings and represent B&D as the senior project leader
  • Address and drive scope, budgets, schedules, and performance requirements across all assigned projects
  • Review construction drawings and specifications to accurately determine impact on scope, budget, and schedule
  • Manage customer-initiated change requests and enhance project design and construction quality
  • Monitor, build, and maintain the project schedule, ensuring trade sequencing supports field productivity
  • Monitor, forecast, and manage all job costs to keep projections and WIP accurate; minimize project oversights through monthly reviews with the management team
  • Notify the customer and/or general contractor of any delays or scope changes within the contracted timeline and document all communication per company procedures
  • Maintain working knowledge of B&D QA Program, Safety Plan, Change Order Process Controls, and Implementing Procedures
  • Maintain working knowledge of BIM/VDC, 3D Construction, Trimble layout, and prefabrication - and ensure these tools are applied across the project
  • Fully engage and ensure adherence to B&D's Prefabrication Policies and Procedures, leveraging the fab shop to maximize productivity
  • Coordinate material and procurement efforts, optimizing labor, materials, and equipment use
  • Develop project plans that meet contractual requirements, satisfy the customer, and establish clear project objectives
  • Apply contractual requirements to the PM Contract Review process and to scope, schedule, and budget
  • Optimize use of available funds and control the scope of work; contract modifications must be reviewed by Area Manager and Contracts department
  • Select project teams with the proper training, background, and skills to execute the work

  • Identify, disposition, and track quality issues and open items requiring resolution before project completion
  • Identify, maintain, and track project files as objective evidence of compliance with contractual and administrative requirements

  • Stand in for the Area Manager when required, providing supervision and support to all direct reports

  • Conduct routine inspections and walk-down activities to remedy field issues and verify constructability
  • Visit job sites regularly and maintain visible field leadership
  • Promote and enforce a positive safety culture across all disciplines
  • Handle difficult and sensitive situations using sound independent judgment within company policy and legal guidelines
  • Apply all applicable laws, rules, ordinances, codes, and regulations
  • Represent B&D's Mission, Vision, and Values at all times
  • Physical demands include long hours sitting, computer use, standing, pulling/pushing, walking, lifting, and climbing; exposure to loud noise, dirt, and the elements is expected on job sites
