We are seeking a Senior SQL Server Database Administrator to join our team.

This role will involve managing, optimizing, and securing SQL Server environments both on-premises and in Azure. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with SQL Server (2016 and above), Azure SQL services, and high-availability/disaster recovery (HA/DR) configurations, with a passion for maintaining enterprise-grade database performance and reliability.


Job Title: Senior SQL Server Database Administrator
Location: Lansing, MI (Hybrid – On-site 2 days per week)
Duration: 1 Year
Job Description:
  • Administer and maintain SQL Server databases (2016 and newer) ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability.
  • Design, implement, and manage Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and SQL Server on Azure VMs.
  • Configure and manage high availability and disaster recovery solutions such as Always On Availability Groups, geo-replication, and point-in-time restore.
  • Implement and maintain Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) and other database security mechanisms.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize database performance using advanced monitoring tools and techniques.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance, backup, and recovery standards.
  • Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to support database design, performance tuning, and deployment.
  • Participate in system upgrades, patching, and performance reviews.
  • Provide technical documentation and mentor team members on database best practices.

Top Skills & Required Experience:
  • 7+ years of hands-on Database Administration experience with SQL Server 2016 and above.
  • Deep understanding of Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and SQL Server on Azure VMs.
