Job Summary
Reporting directly to the Senior Delivery Manager, ProCogia is seeking a Technical Lead — Java / Spring Boot / Azure (Financial Services) to join our team. Our Financial Services client is seeking a hands-on Technical Lead to drive development across a Payments POD, a Commercial POD, and a Visa POD. You will lead a team of engineers, own technical delivery, and remain deeply hands-on — writing code, reviewing pull requests, and setting engineering standards.

This is a fully remote role, with the ideal candidate being based out of BC, Alberta, or Ontario, and working PDT hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of Java developers; own sprint-level technical delivery
  • Design, build, and review Java/Spring Boot microservices and RESTful APIs supporting payments, commercial banking, and Visa card platforms
  • Perform code reviews and enforce engineering standards for quality, security, and performance
  • Translate solution architecture into detailed technical designs and implementation plans
  • Drive CI/CD, testing, and DevOps practices on Azure
  • Collaborate with architects, product owners, and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Troubleshoot production issues and guide root-cause analysis


Qualifications

  • 8+ years of software development experience, including 2+ years as a Technical Lead in Financial/Banking sector applications
  • Expert hands-on Java and Spring Boot development (microservices, RESTful APIs, Spring Cloud)
  • Experience building and deploying on Azure (AKS, App Services, Azure Functions, API Management, Service Bus, Event Hubs, or equivalent)
  • Experience with modern core banking / commercial banking / digital banking systems supporting a Payments POD, a Commercial POD, and a Visa POD
  • Strong knowledge of integration patterns, event-driven architecture, and API design
  • Proven ability to lead code reviews, mentor developers, and raise team engineering standards
  • Solid grasp of SQL/NoSQL databases, messaging (Kafka or equivalent), and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes)
  • CI/CD experience (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar) and automated testing practices
  • Excellent communication skills; effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

  • Payment rails experience (Interac, Visa DPS, ISO 20022, real-time payments)
  • Exposure to architecture practices and modelling (UML, TOGAF, 4+1 View Model)
  • Security in regulated environments (PCI DSS, OSFI guidelines)
  • Performance tuning and observability (App Insights, Grafana, distributed tracing)
