Job description

Job Title: Senior PostgreSQL Database Administrator Location: Washington, DC Type: Direct Hire Compensation: $190,000.00 Work Model: Onsite Hours: 40.0 Security Clearance: Active Top Secret with current or previously held SCI access Contact: Crystal.dinnocenti@systemone.com RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure the performance, availability, scalability, and security of PostgreSQL database environments.
  • Design, implement, manage, and tune PostgreSQL databases in enterprise environments.
  • Own high availability and disaster recovery configurations for PostgreSQL environments.
  • Enforce database security controls, including encryption, key management, and compliance-aligned auditing.
  • Perform database performance tuning, backups, replication, and recovery.
  • Manage schemas, indexes, stored procedures, and permissions.
  • Support containerized database and application operations by managing Kubernetes clusters.
  • Administer CI/CD pipelines and automation supporting database and application delivery.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborative delivery activities.
  • Support production operations with urgency and operational discipline.
  • Communicate technical risks, issues, and recommendations clearly to stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain strong customer trust through technical expertise, responsiveness, and reliability.
REQUIREMENTS
  • 10+ years of hands-on database administration experience, including at least 5 years of recent, deep expertise in PostgreSQL.
  • Active Top Secret clearance with current or previously held SCI access.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred; relevant experience may substitute.
  • Certification meeting DoD 8140 (e.g., Security+, GSEC, or higher).
  • Experience designing, implementing, managing, and tuning PostgreSQL databases in enterprise environments.
  • Experience owning high availability and disaster recovery configurations for PostgreSQL environments.
  • Experience enforcing database security controls, including encryption, key management, and compliance-aligned auditing.
  • Ability to own core PostgreSQL responsibilities on day one and ramp quickly on program-specific tooling in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.
  • Perform database performance tuning, backups, replication, and recovery.
  • Manage schemas, indexes, stored procedures, and permissions.
  • Support Kubernetes clusters and containerized database and application operations.
  • Administer CI/CD pipelines and automation supporting database and application delivery.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborative delivery activities.
  • Support production operations with urgency and operational discipline.
  • Communicate technical risks, issues, and recommendations clearly to stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain strong customer trust through technical expertise, responsiveness, and reliability.
PREFERRED:
  • Master's Degree
  • Experience with SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure SQL, Amazon RDS).
  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure DBA Associate or Data Management & Analytics.
