Job description

Position Summary

The position is a full –time dental hygiene faculty member at the rank of Clinical Instructor. The individual will provide clinical supervision to students performing preventive procedures in the Titans for Teeth Mobile Clinic (TFTMC).


Key Responsibilities

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Teaching

  • Teaching in the mobile dental program, supervising dental and dental hygiene students, and providing preventative services.
  • Support the supervising dental faculty and students during the operation of the mobile clinic to manage it efficiently. 
  • Assist the manager in setting up and breaking down portable equipment at sites.
  • Help with patient registration, patient letters as needed.
  • Assist the manager in maintaining and cleaning equipment (i.e., high speed, low speed, dental unit, x-ray unit, ultrasonic scaler, etc.) by following the manufacturer’s guidelines.
  • Ensure students enter service information into HETO and Axium.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene.
  2. Unencumbered, active dental hygiene license in Michigan, or eligible for Michigan Licensure.
  3. Expertise and experience as a dental hygienist.
  4. Possession of current CPR (Basic Life Support).


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  1. Experience with community health promotion.
  2. Record of quality teaching and service appropriate to the rank.
  3. Excellent management, interpersonal and communication skills, including exceptional customer service skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  4. Ability to collaborate with members of diverse cultural, socioeconomic and disadvantaged groups
