Indian Health Service is seeking a locum dentist.
$140 - $160 an hour
JOB DESCRIPTION
Patient Assessment and Treatment Planning:
Conduct thorough interviews and examinations of patients, reviewing their dental history to formulate comprehensive treatment plans addressing their specific needs. Perform clinical and radiographic examinations to assess oral health status and identify any existing or potential dental issues.
Provision of Dental Services:
Provide a wide range of dental services, including but not limited to examinations, extractions, restorations, periodontal treatment, and prosthodontics. Deliver dental care to patients of all ages, from infants to geriatric adults, ensuring personalized treatment based on individual needs.
Patient Education and Counseling:
Counsel and educate patients, families, and the community on dental health care practices and preventive measures to maintain optimal oral health.Collaborate with medical staff to integrate dental care into overall healthcare plans and promote holistic wellness.
Referrals and Collaboration:
Consult with other healthcare providers as needed to coordinate patient care and make referrals to specialist offices for specialized procedures not available at WWKMHCC. Schedule and coordinate appointments for patients requiring additional care outside the facility.
Prescription and Drug Management:
Prescribe necessary medications, including analgesics, anesthetics, and antibiotics, following Indian Health Service formulary and procedures.Ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations and maintain accurate records of prescribed medications.
Documentation and Record Keeping:
Complete all patient charting promptly and accurately in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system within 72 hours of procedures.Maintain proper dental record documentation to meet or exceed established standards, ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and compliance with IHS regulations.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:
Assess the quality of dental care services provided and participate in ongoing self-evaluation to strive for excellence in primary care delivery.Adhere to infection control and safety procedures, practices, and standards set forth by IHS and AAAHC.
Work Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with a thirty-minute lunch break
Hours worked must be pre-approved by the Chief Dental Officer.
No work on Federal Government holidays.
Qualifications:
Current, active, unrestricted state dentist license from any of the 50 United States or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
Current, unrestricted DEA license to prescribe medications.
Certification in Current Basic Life Support (BLS).
Prior experience as a General Dentist preferred.
