Job description

Overview
Shimmick is seeking a highly talented Electrical General Superintendent to be based in the greater Seattle, Washington area. This challenging position will provide an excellent growth opportunity while improving the infrastructure of the county.
At Shimmick, we are problem solvers. Creative thinkers. Innovators. We approach each project with fresh ideas and big thinking in pursuit of better answers, better outcomes, and better experiences for our clients. We are resourceful, nimble and resilient. We work hard together-and with our clients-to deliver high-quality projects that are on time, on budget and beyond expectations.
Axia Electric, LLC
Since the early 1990s, Shimmick has been self-performing electrical scopes for infrastructure projects. In 2025 the Electrical Division rebranded to Axia Electric, a subsidiary to Shimmick Construction. Axia offers electrical, instrumentation, and process controls expertise for water and wastewater treatment; dams and locks; mass transit and rail; alternative energy; power generation and transmission; and commercial building projects. Our ability to self-perform this specialty offers additional value and enables us to better control cost and schedule for projects with major electrical and process mechanical scopes. Our clients include municipalities, water districts, sanitation districts, transit agencies, private developers, DOTs, and USACE
Axia Electric, headquartered in Riverside, California, focuses on large public owners in several states, across water resources, water treatment, transportation and transit markets. Over the past decade, the division has grown tremendously, securing major projects, including the $350 million North City Pure Water Facility in San Diego and the $235 million EVMWD Regional Water Reclamation Facility Expansion Project in Lake Elsinore, CA.

  • Serve as the primary on-site authority for all electrical scopes, coordinating with GCs, A/E teams, client field representatives, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise on-site functions including engineering support, material control, installation crews, testing/commissioning teams, and I&C work.

Safety, Quality & Compliance
  • Champion Shimmick and Axia Electric's culture of safety, ensuring strict adherence to all EHS programs, site protocols, and corrective action procedures.
  • Implement and maintain robust quality assurance/quality control systems; conduct inspections; verify workmanship meets or exceeds project specifications and industry standards to avoid any rework.

  • Develop, maintain, and manage equipment and ST&S inventory for assigned projects.

  • Provide advanced technical guidance on electrical construction methods, specialized equipment, installation sequencing, testing protocols, and commissioning activities.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to power distribution, MCCs, switchgear, PLC/SCADA systems, instrumentation, and process control architecture.
  • Identify and implement innovative solutions to improve constructability, reduce risk, streamline installation, and enhance project performance.
  • Work with project team to plan, develop, and implement work packages for assigned projects

Leadership, Workforce Development & Team Culture
  • Manage, mentor, and develop electrical field teams- including superintendents, foremen, field engineers, and craft personnel.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide ongoing coaching, and support training initiatives to strengthen talent pipelines and ensure long-term workforce development.
  • Uphold company policies, work rules, and performance expectations, document and address violations promptly and professionally.

  • Collaborate with internal teams including Project Management, Engineering, Safety, Quality, Procurement, and Operations to ensure unified project delivery.
  • Represent Axia Electric at coordination meetings, contractor progress meetings, executive site walks, safety audits, and internal project reviews.
