Job description

Position Description:

The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) requires a Senior Oracle Exadata DBA to provide development and optimization support to various applications using Oracle database on AWS.
We are seeking an experienced Oracle Exadata DBA for managing and optimizing Oracle databases hosted on Exadata and Linux platforms within the AWS cloud environment. This role includes ownership of application schemas, database design, extensions, and ongoing support across development, test, and production environments. The position requires strong expertise in database performance tuning, administration, replication, and highavailability solutions such as Oracle Data Guard.

This individual will play a key role in leading database strategy and implementing best practices for largescale, highvolume application systems. They will collaborate with development teams to support application modernization initiatives and ensure database components are designed for scalability, reliability, and optimal performance in AWS.

Primary Responsibilities:

Manage and maintain Oracle database environments (development, test, production) running on Exadata and Linux in AWS.
Collaborate with application developers to define data requirements, design tables and schemas, and assist with SQL development and optimization.
Support application modernization efforts by providing robust, scalable database solutions.
Lead the design, implementation, and management of application schemas, database structures, and extensions.
Provide technical support for Oracle databases, including diagnosis and resolution of performance, configuration, and availability issues.
Develop and maintain procedures, standards, and best practices for database operations in cloud environments.
Administer highavailability and disaster recovery configurations using Oracle Data Guard.
Implement and manage replication solutions such as Oracle GoldenGate.
Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, and resource management for highvolume workloads.
Conduct regular database backups, restores, patching, and upgrades.
