Job description

TITLE: Manager, Business Intelligence (Multiple Openings)

LOCATION: Maryland Heights, MO

JOB SUMMARY: Oversee business unit-focused initiatives for the interpretation and application of business intelligence (BI) products including product design, development, and technical strategy for Charter’s BI group. Communicate data integrity issues, nuances, and insights to all levels of the company. Maintain Key Operating Metric definitions and own BI single source of truth reporting. Provide high-level conceptual and technical expertise and establish best practices in data management and business intelligence. Develop function strategy by ensuring successful integration of multi-discipline technical projects. Assign task to team members and determine capacity and level of skills needed, guide work activities, assess integrated project objectives, escalate and communicate resource needs, ensure quality reviews are completed, and push issue resolution. Drive generation of architectural and detailed design documents. Deliver continual data quality reports and improve data quality, including report design and development in large-scale data warehouse environments using AWS Redshift, MicroStrategy, or Tableau. Communicate cross-functionality and provide constructive feedback into product design and craft solutions to difficult user experience and system integrations problems. Develop analytic standards for measuring performance within the business unit, leading teams to consensus around analytic approaches and development of reporting priorities across key initiatives. Monitor and manage requests from the business to Charter’s BI Group. Deliver IT or Business Intelligence (BI) solutions, as well as BI development, analysis, or architecture using AWS Redshift, MicroStrategy, or Tableau. Use SQL query design in large-scale data warehouse environments. Design, develop and support new and existing BI solutions. Implement and manage technologies that are capable of handling large amounts of data to help identify, develop and otherwise create new strategic business opportunities. Transform business requirements into sustainable BI solutions through the construction of MicroStrategy architecture, reports, and dashboards. Educate end users on the functionality of reporting products developed, including nuances of mobile metric definitions and document those products for future reference. Coach and mentor junior developers on the team. Contribute to solution architecture by approving data architecture as ready to be consumed by MicroStrategy. Recommend best practices and innovative reporting solutions above and beyond given requirements through delivery. Transform data into visually appealing dashboards that are easily consumed. Extend reporting architecture as new areas of functionality are introduced to the warehouse in a sustainable and supportable way. Tune mobile and desktop reporting for quick access to information through efficient SQL generation or cubing/caching strategy. Write SQL scripts against the Teradata warehouse to support analysis, discovery, and testing of reports. Support and document reports in a way that maximizes end user efficiency. Iterate and prototype on key business initiatives to arrive at a finished product that aligns with end user expectations.

 
EDUCATION / REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field. 7 years of experience delivering IT or Business Intelligence (BI) solutions including in at least one of the following: AWS Redshift, MicroStrategy, or Tableau. 5 years of experience: using SQL query design in large-scale data warehouse environments; and in report design and development in large-scale data warehouse environments including at least one of the following: AWS Redshift, MicroStrategy, or Tableau. 3 years of: experience in BI development, analysis, or architecture including at least one of the following: AWS Redshift, MicroStrategy, or Tableau; and supervisory experience including assigning tasks to team members and determining team capacity and level of skills needed to complete work successfully.
